The article discusses Thailand's order to prepare for the return of tourists amid ongoing Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Commenters express concerns over current restrictions and the requirement for $100,000 Covid-19 insurance, questioning the true meaning behind the statement of 'opening' and what it would entail regarding local amenities like restaurants and bars.

This fake news isn't for tourists it's for those in the industry to give them the illusion and false hope and stave off the mass civil unrest. You will be reading this headline for the coming months and little will change.
I just read that the governor in Bangkok has stated that he will not allow Bangkok to reopen according to the previous plans until at least 70% of the city is fully vaccinated against the virus. So it doesn’t look like will be happening there.
well you may have a point also but there are many truths not in the public domain especially about Thailand and the government that's have even left me a little confused as to why they did it and continue to do so. See how these next few months play out as it is coming up to the high season and they will be running out of excuses not to open the country.
: Point well taken. Its been a big struggle for many countries to find the right balance when there are many lives at stake and fears of overruning the capacities of hospitals to prevent deaths during the peaks.
the point of all this isn't about a virus. It's the new normal. They told us that from the beginning. Already even in the Bangkok many of these businesses are gone for good. The damage already done is irreversible. Over a disease that 99.9 percent don't die from.
: Based on what I'm hearing and reading, I have a different take on the situation. If tourism doesn't open up in the next months, then about 50% of hotels will go broke and will be forced to go out of business. The government has no choice but to try to avert this economic catastrophe and all the fallout. So your explanation does not seem to correlate with the current reality in Thailand.
: If the only restrictions left are some PCR test and reporting in on the app, then I think a lot of people will go for it. It sure beats the 14 day quarantine.
