What does it mean if I received a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa instead of a DTV, and can I reapply for the DTV while this visa is valid?

Hi, I applied for a DTV from Mumbai, India. Received a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa instead? What does this mean? Can I reapply for a DTV while this visa is still valid?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user initially applied for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) but received a 6-month multiple entry tourist visa instead. This implies that the embassy deemed the METV more appropriate for their application. Based on user comments, it appears that individuals cannot apply for a new visa while holding a valid visa, suggesting they must wait for the current visa to expire or be canceled. There are speculations that the application might have been denied due to concerns that the user would engage in activities seen as competition to local businesses, as they own a travel company.

You applied for the DTV visa for a soft power activity...am I correct ?

Which Soft Power Activity did you apply for?

Muay Thai training?

Thai Cooking school?

Combination of Thai language and culture study?

How many months of the soft power activity did you submit with your application?

Anonymous participant WOW 😯

That's surprising that your DTV application was DENIED and a METV multiple entry tourist visa issued.

Do you have any idea why the DTV was not issued?

Do you think the Thai Embassy thought you were selling travel to Thailand?... thereby cutting out the Thai based travel agencies?

That is probably the issue. They probably feel like he/she is going to get here and start selling travel packages and/or act likena tour guide. Even though the work is technically to clients outside of Thailand it is probably being seen as direct competition against local businesses.

They determined that a METV was better fit for you. You can’t apply for another visa while you have a valid visa. Will need to wait six months

Usually have to wait until visa expires or have it cancelled before you can apply
