Can I apply for a dependent DTV visa for my baby while traveling to Thailand on a tourist visa?

Hi everyone 🙏

I have a DTV visa, and I’m planning to apply for a dependent DTV visa for my baby (under 1 year old) while we are still outside Thailand.

My plan is:

1. Apply for her DTV dependent visa from abroad

2. Travel to Thailand before it’s approved (so she enters on a tourist visa)

3. Receive the approval while we are already in Thailand

4. Then do a short visa run so she can re-enter using the DTV visa

Does anyone know if this is acceptable, or if there could be any issues with this approach—especially considering she is an infant?

Thanks a lot in advance 🙏🙏🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user's plan to apply for a DTV dependent visa for their infant while traveling to Thailand on a tourist visa raises concerns. Multiple commenters indicate that applicants are typically required to remain in the jurisdiction of the embassy where the application is submitted. Leaving the jurisdiction during the application process could jeopardize the approval of the application. Some suggest that if the infant is outside the relevant jurisdiction, it could lead to denial of the visa application. Additionally, other options such as working with a local agent familiar with DTV applications are recommended.

Happy to introduce you to a great local Samui agent who specializes in DTV and also generously donates part of their fees to the Samui Surf Lifesaving club (to help local Kids to learn to swim in the ocean). I can send you their details

Benefit of on-line working is that you can do that from every country where there is access to internet, no need to be inside Thailand all the time.

Just choose one of those countries.

No, the applicant must remain in a location served by the consulate the application was made it. Leaving puts the application at risk

It doesn't work that way, you're supposed to stay in the country of application (see embassies websites warnings). They may deny the application if you're caught.

That would be a no-no. Before online visa applications you would have had to bring your passport to the embassy, which makes it very hard to travel abroad while they are holding your passport.
