Multiple entry visa

Just wondering if its possible for a tourist (staying for 3 months in hua hin ) to get a multiple enmtry visa as would like to have the option of junping in and out of thialand and Vietnam tia
Answer summary
Tourists currently in Thailand cannot apply for a new multiple entry visa; this must be done before entering the country. However, re-entry permits can be obtained to avoid losing entry stamps when leaving Thailand. A multiple entry tourist visa can be applied for at a Thai embassy abroad and allows for extended stays of 60 days each entry. Travelers are advised to provide flight details and potentially show their travel plans to support their visa applications.

You cannot apply for a Thai visa when you are already in Thailand. So no, you cannot get a new multiple entry visa while you are in Hua Hin.

You can apply for a re-entry permit which prevents your entry stamp from being cancelled if you leave, but does not add any time to your stay. So if you leave and return, you still only have permission to stay as long you did the first time.

Or you can apply for a multiple entry tourist visa BEFORE travelling to Thailand, which is valid for 6 months and will give a 60-day tourist entry stamp each time entering Thailand.

hello, you seem to have some knowledge.

I'm a Canadian citizen I came in on a Visa exemption for the first time to Thailand February the 4th to April the 4th. I got an extension for 30 days taking me to the May 4th.. 90 days total, I then laughed and went to Cambodia for 30 days... I left there and went to Vietnam where I am now for 21 days.. I would like to come back to Thailand for about 45 more days before I carry on my way.. I am not working I am strictly a traveler..

I've asked this question in different forms and I get so many different answers..

I understand it's up to the immigration officer.. but do you see an issue with me coming back in for 45 more days? Either on another my second 60-day Visa exemption .. or if I got a 60 day tourist visa ? Whatever route I can take to not have any issues at immigration. I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong but everything I'm reading it sounds like it's becoming a bit of a issue coming into Thailand, especially for a second time since February even though I've been out of the country for almost 2 months... If you have any opinions please let me know.. thank you very much

you'll get different answers because your question is impossible to answer. No on Facebook can tell you if you'll have problems. Only the immigration officer you'll be standing in front of decides. They will look back at your history over the previous 12-18 months and see how much time you have spent in Thailand and if they think you're a genuine tourist or if you're someone trying to stay in Thailand long term without a long term visa. Most people start running into issues at 150 days or so.

Tourist visa has slightly better odds of no trouble, but at the end of the day they are both tourist entries.

Thank-you for the response . I understand it's up to the immigration officer.. I've only been to Thailand once.. this year.. and it was for 90 days..

If I felt I was doing something wrong or staying longer than intended I would just apply for the appropriate visas... I don't feel I am , I'm a genuine tourist and I just want to know if I'm able to get back in on a second Visa exemption or if I should apply for the 60 day tourist visa.. I was just hoping for anybody with actual knowledge or experience could throw some advice my way ...

Thanks !

the embassy sets their own prices. You would want to check the website of the Thai embassy that you would be applying through

The requirements are whatever the embassy says they are. Normally for a multiple entry visa, they want details about a flight into Thailand, a flight out within 60 days, and then another flight back into Thailand. That shows that you are entering multiple times, and need a multiple entry visa.
