Hello Expats,

My Name is Nabin Sharma, from Nepal, working for a company in Bangkok. My PayScale is around 30,XXX baht per a month. I have a work permit and working visa (non-B) provided by the company. I want to bring my parents to stay with me. The appropriate visa category will be deepened Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay) visa because they are more than 50 years old.

For this type of VISA, Thai MoFA website mentions that either I need to have bank balance not less than 800,000 Baht for three months or my parents should have monthly income certificate of not less than 65,000 Baht.

In my case, I fulfill none of the above-mentioned requirements, therefore is showing 800,000 baht into my account mandatory? If Yes, how could I do that one? Please advise me.

Or

If you know another way around, still I could bring my parents please share with me.

Thanks, in advance for your constructive comments.

Nabin

TLDR : Answer Summary
Nabin Sharma, an expat working in Bangkok, inquires about bringing his parents to Thailand on a Non-Immigrant O-A visa, specifically highlighting his inability to meet the financial requirements of having 800,000 baht in his bank account or providing a monthly income certificate for his parents. Comments suggest exploring the Non-Immigrant O visa's requirements, which may not have strict financial criteria and advise both parents to apply for the O-A visa as a potential solution.

I just took a look at the Thai Embassy in Kathmandu and the list to get the Non Immigrant O-A is the same as for Non Immigrant O. No financial requirements. I would say let's both of them apply for this visa.

Immigration office has their own hand outs to help you to get al the papers needed for Extension of Stay. But to get the idea of what is needed to extend your stay with the Non Immigrant B visa take a look at this:

Extending your Stay based Non Immigrant B visa is a total different story. Your company need to provide most of the paper work needed to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay. If they can not provide these paperwork, they will give you a little less papers to go abroad to apply for a NEW Non Immigrant B visa.

Thank now I understood something! If my company does not provide the documents I learned that still, I can extend for 3 months right? Now, may I ask for how many times I do do this kind of extension?
Robert *******
Other option is to apply for one of them for the 1 year Extension of Stay on his/her own visa but than he/she need a Thai bank account of minimum 800.000 Thb on it for 2 months prior application or 65.000 Thb monthly income verified by your embassy. The other can than apple for the 1 year Extension of Stay depending on spouse as described in the link.

Okay, here you can read the guidelines to apply for the Extension of Stay for their 3 months Non Immigrant O visa if you want them to get this depending on your Visa. You need for sure a letter from your company stating that they are supporting this.

I talked with the consulate they cannot issue O-A type of visa from Kathmandu as my parents do not have Thai bank account. One thing they can do is to issue Non-Immigrant “O” visa; it will last for 3 months, Now I want to know how to extend this sort of visa for a year or more?

You're mixing up two different visa's and the requirements of the Extension of Stay. If you want that your parents come to Thailand depending on your Non Immigrant B visa, you need to look at the requirements of the Non Immigrant O visa (without -A) as depending on foreigner working in Thailand. Your parents can also come with one of them using the Non Immigrant O-A visa (long stay) and the partner on a Non Immigrant O visa depending on the spouse.

The best visa is for one of your parents the Non Immigrant O-A visa, possible to stay for two years. The other one the Non Immigrant O visa based on dependent of the spouse, visa is for 1 year, than Extension of Stay based on dependent of the spouse for another year. The requirements differ, so take a look at the website of the Thai Embassy in their country to read the correct requirements.
