What documents should I provide when applying for a Thai DTV visa as a self-employed remote worker?

Hi all, looking for advice from anyone who's applied for the DTV through the London embassy as self-employed.

I applied under the remote worker/freelancer category as a self-employed app developer (2 apps live on the App Store, very very small but real revenue, savings are very well above the 500k THB requirement, and this was my premise that I proved I can sustain myself for a the entirely of the 5 year visa while I work on more apps). I'm currently still employed full time in the UK and uploaded my payslips as proof of income (that they requested, in addition to m App Store revenue) but I'm planning to leave the job and move over next summer.

The embassy has now asked for an employment contract and a signed letter from my UK employer confirming remote work in Thailand. I can't provide that, because I won't be working for them from Thailand.

I can only upload one document per request and they don't reply to messages. My plan is to upload proof of my own business (HMRC self-employed registration and my Apple developer agreement- granted very small revenue , currently under £50 per month) plus a letter explaining that I'm applying as self-employed, not as a remote employee.

Has anyone been in a similar spot? Did the embassy accept self-employment evidence instead, or would I be better off letting this one go and reapplying once I've left my job?

Thanks in advance!

The user seeks advice on applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) through the London embassy as a self-employed individual. They have proof of their app development business and financial stability but are struggling to provide an employment contract from their UK employer, as they plan to leave the job. Users in the comments suggest strategies, such as uploading documentation of self-employment, explaining their working situation in a cover letter, and noting the importance of providing genuine documents to avoid rejection.

If someone can answer if they call at work at all to verify. I can work from UK and EU but not outside EU.

So I won't be getting any letter from HR specifically for Thailand.

They focus on the current detail at time of application and any documents supporting that current employment/contract. Either get a letter from current confirming remote work in Thailand or wait until that is over and apply on the freelance basis.

You can write to yourself or whom it may concern from yourself

I uploaded a cover letter explaining my self employed status ( I own properties in Uk and rent them out- I fully manage them remotely so I explained that). If you can explain how you will generate income from self employment you should be good. Even though I explained that I would not engage in any business within Thailand in my cover letter they asked for an additional letter formally stating I wouldn’t.

I also uploaded my tax statements.

I❤️PDF lets you put many PDFs together into one single document you can then upload. Did all this in September, hope it helps

The 500.000 Baht is NOT for living expences, but for unforeseen things that might happen, where you should be able to pay IMMEDIATELY (hospital bills, fines, compensations etc.)

So you applied with payslips from a company, that you actually will not be working for, when in Thailand !

Giving falsified documentation, can lead to rejection AND ban from Thailand.

From the London Thai Embassy website:

“applicants must provide genuine and verifiable documents. Any unreliable or false information will lead to the rejection of a visa application and the future prohibition of entry into Thailand.”

Have a look through the group. There was a guy recently approved with basically zero clients. It was for a startup, so the London embassy is okay with that. I think you may have confused them with your current UK employer plus the self-employed.

You can apply as self employed, many do. You provide your own contract, and letter giving yourself permission to work remotely in Thailand and that you promise not to work for any Thai businesses. Explain you will work self-employed in Thailand and not for your current UK employer.
