Should I select 'Employee' or 'Freelancer' for the DTV Workation visa application as an independent contractor?
Hi everyone, I have a question about the Occupation field for the DTV Workation visa.
I have worked exclusively for one U.S. company for almost 4 years. I don’t have any other clients and receive a fixed monthly payment. However, my contract clearly states that this is not an employment agreement and that I am an independent contractor.
For my application, I will also provide an employment verification letter, a letter confirming I can work remotely from Thailand, and documents proving the company is a legitimate registered business and a portfolio with work examples.
My lawyer recommends selecting Employee, but based on my contract Freelancer also seems correct.
Has anyone with a similar situation applied? Which option did you choose, and did the embassy have any issues with it?

I'd choose freelancer as well. You are not a direct employee of the company but working on a contract basis.

I was in a similar situation. London Embassy asked for a letter from the company confirming that I was working for them as an independent contractor. I chose freelancer not employee on the application
