What should I do if the Thai embassy in London asks for additional documents for my visa application?

Applied on Wednesday at Thai embassy London and got this yesterday asking for more documents. Some of the documents they asked for I uploaded with original application . Is this generic ? Also for the company letter I am a freelance in my occupation and work for different company's outside of Thailand so I provided a letter from myself and contracts from my previous 2 employers. Should this be ok ? Has anybody had similar from London ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
After applying for a Thai visa at the embassy in London, the person received a request for additional documents, some of which were previously submitted. Questions arose regarding the necessity and reasoning behind this request, especially since the applicant is a freelancer working with companies outside Thailand. Comments from other users suggest that such requests are not generic but tailored to individual cases. Some users advised providing all requested documents, including proof of remote work and compliance with visa terms, even if it means resubmitting previously supplied information. Others noted that the application process may be stricter in London, emphasizing the importance of clarity in documentation for freelancers.

I think that they are handing out too many and this is their way to limit them. I dont really think it was made for freelancers that work just time. They really meant you have a full time job and are able to work remotely or at least that is how i took it.

The not uncommon mess. But these are the things one occasionally has to endure when dealing with Thai buraucracy. Take the last one for example: Why would they even ask for monthly income. The underlying law of the DTV does not even ask for any specific monthly income, but a lumb sum in savings. Just do as they ask and never ask why or why it makes sense. It mostly doesn’t. Welcome to Thailand.

An application I was involved with at the London embassy asked for documents that had been supplied before. What they meant by asking for them was that, we assumed, those that had been sent previously weren’t good enough. Specifically permission to work remotely. We responded by uploading another letter that specifically mentioned working remotely from Thailand and that no Thai clients, or Thai companies were involved in the business.

Given that you’re a freelancer, you could explain your understanding that your remote work in Thailand would only be for clients based outside of the country and any money earned would be remitted to the uk.

They need to know that you understand and are ready to comply with the terms of the visa.

London do seem to be getting picky over remaining in the UK during processing. Two posts in here where the person has come to Thailand and had to fly back to UK. Must be many more.

I'm in the UK . Provided a flight out on the 14th December. It just seems a bit excessive to me they asked for so much extra when I thought I had loaded my application quite well . Also some of the stuff they asked for I had already loaded the first time. Not hopefully for a Approval but fingers crossed .

Anonymous participant I think they are covering their ar5es these days with the new PM. You will be fine as you fit the profile they want in remote workers. I doubt you will have any issues. My pal just applied for 90 Day O there. He showed them investments of over a million quid. Not accepted and he had to move cash into a personal account. They told him Thursday up to 2 weeks for processing. I said same to him. Covering their ar5es with the timeliness. Enjoy your Christmas in Thailand.

This is not generic, the list of documents is based on what specifically they need from you and therefore varies from person to person. You need a letter from the company you work for stating they are ok with you being based in Thailand

DTV_BegPecker I am a freelancer I work for different companys on a job to job basis with all the compnays based outside of Thailand. I have provided a letter from myself explaining everything thoroughly. Hopefully it will be ok

Participant(e) anonyme I do the same and just asked a regular client I've been working with on a project basis to write me a letter.

Anonymous participant - you can search through some of the old posts, I believe a few freelancers had one of their current contracts/companies supply the letter.

Seems pretty straightforward. Just give them what they ask for, even if you are duplicating some of what was sent before
