TLDR : Answer Summary
A French citizen seeking to extend a 30-day visa on arrival in Phuket will need to provide specific documents at the immigration office. The basic requirements include copies of your passport, a passport photo, and a filled-out application form. It's also important to note that what you are likely holding is a 30-day visa exempt entry, not a visa on arrival.

There is no 30 day visa on arrival for people from any country :/ That means you have a 30 day visa exempt entry ;)

The required documentation is your passport copies, passport photo and a filled out application

There is a 'visa on arrival' and a 'visa exemption'. Two different animals, dont blame the airport.

But at the airport there are big signs saying 'Visa on arrival '.

I know you are correct so perhaps the airport should change their signs.
