PTPA. Hi, I am currently in bangkok holding an ED visa under a thai language school. Recently, I got accepted in a University (kmutt) to study under a bachelor degree program with a scholarship. I asked my school if it's possible to change to new ED visa here in bangkok and they said 'yes'. I inquired about requirements needed, and they just asked me for a copy of my passport, the TM6, and cancellation letter from my thai school. I'd like to know what other documents I should have upon application so I could prepare. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks information on the documents required for changing their ED visa from a private Thai language school to a university program in Bangkok. Comments clarify that this process involves canceling the current extension of stay and applying for a new extension based on the university enrollment.

You aren't getting a new ED visa :/ What you are doing is cancelling your extension of stay based on education from a private thai language school (using the letter from your school) and then immediately applying for a NEW extension based on education from the university with documents from them.

You're changing your reason for extension from studying at a private school to studying at a university. That's it, you're not getting a new ED visa at all

no, I've never heard of that as a requirement to get an extension of stay.

not even for a brand new ED visa? I’m here on one too and have toyed with the thought of transferring unis

you are confusing the requirements to get an ED visa from a thai consulate in another country (which might have financial requirements) with getting a new extension based on education here inside thailand. They never ask for proof of funds for ED extensions that I am aware of

okay noted, Thanks! I did need proof of funds at the Thai consulate but have never needed it to extend.
