Hi everyone. I have non-immigrant ED Visa for study purpose and will expire on 8th Sept. Actually my study period will end on 31st August in Songkla Province but from 1st September I’ll move to BKK to start another study period. Since I’ll move from one province to another to continue my studies, how can I extend my ED Visa? Has anyone had this experience?

Hi everyone I want to thank you for your help and update on how I finally managed to get the VISA extension (as your suggestions):

1-I had a letter from my previous organization (in Songkla) that stated that my period ended on 31st August

2-I went to Songkla immigration office and canceled my VISA previously ending on 8th September, making it ending on 31st August

3-I asked my organisation in BKK to issue the new training course starting date on 31st August

4-I went to immigration in BKK on 31st and got my "under consideration stamp" until I went again today (20th Sept) to get the non immigrant ED EXTENSION stamp

For point number 3, I could have the option to keep the starting day in BKK on 1st September, the only difference was that I would have had to pay 500 baht for 1 day of overstay, but not any other issue.

I hope this experience could help other people who were confused as me.

Thank you again

You will need to get a letter from your school stating that you are ending your course of study on xx date ... take that letter to the Thai Immigration office which ISSUED you the Ed Visa to have it cancelled.

Then you will need to get a NEW Ed Visa for your New course of study in Bangkok.

What is your passport nation?

What course of study are you doing?

My passport nation is Italian and the study is an educational training in government hospital. But 31st Aug and 1st Sept are Saturday and Sunday and immigration offices are closed. What do you suggest me to do?

@Gia****
Ask your sponsor of the Ed Visa that you are on or in Bangkok.

Trying to understand what you actually are NOW on...are you on an INTERNSHIP ?

get a letter to Thai Immigration stating that your Ed course is ending... take it to the Thai Immigration office which ISSUED you the Ed Visa to cancel it. You can go to the Thai Immigration office before August 31.

And when the Ed Visa is canceled you will need to leave Thailand. Not go to Bangkok... because you no longer have permission to stay beyond August 31.

Start the process of getting a New Ed Visa all over again.

if you do a BORDER BOUNCE out and re-enter Thailand, you will get a NEW 60 days stamp on arrival. And that can be extended for 30 ADDED days at your local Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. Giving you the time to sort out your options for staying in Thailand.

ok thanks. Just seems strange that I should leave the country in order to reapply for the same Visa and to continue my stay. Thanks!

I believe each educational establishment has to get your application for an ED visa approved so you can't just switch from one establishment to another. Are you changing establishments or just changing locations with the same establishment? If the latter the establishment should be able to sort it out

I change both establishment and locations

then you will need to cancel your current extension of stay based on study and then apply for a new ED visa via your new place of study
