Hi all, I have an extension of stay based on work permit until January 30 (this Saturday). I want to apply for the 60-day covid extension before Friday. Will I be able to go to immigration this week and just do this, or do I have to cancel the work permit early before I can apply? Thanks in advance for any help ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about applying for a 60-day COVID extension of stay based on their current extension linked to a work permit. It was clarified in the comments that they would need to cancel their existing extension of stay related to employment on the same day they apply for the COVID-19 extension.

To get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, you will need to cancel your extension of stay based on employment, and then, ON THE SAME DAY, apply for a Extension of Stay based on Unable to Travel due to COVID-19.

Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated. Just to clarify one thing: Can I just cancel the extension of stay based on employment at the immigration office, then get back in the queue and apply for the covid extension? Or will I need to go to the labor department to cancel the work permit before going to immigration?

You can not work on an Extension of Stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, so you will have to cancel your work permit as well.
