Hoping someone can offer good advice, my tourist visa extension is up on June 22, I will be getting a Non B and work permit once my police clearance comes back. The school has informed me I need at least 15 days to process the Non b, my only option is to get the Covid extension to allow for the 15 dadys. Is it still at the same place in Chaengwattana where visa extensions take place? What documents other than TM30 is needed? I was told they might only give me a few days and I would have to return multiple times? And is it still 1900B? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on securing a Covid extension for their tourist visa, which expires on June 22. They need the extension to allow sufficient time for processing a Non-B visa and work permit. The discussion highlights that the Covid extension application can be made at the same counter where the user previously obtained a 30-day extension, and it costs 1900 baht. There's no guarantee for the extension, and it may require two visits: one for the application and payment, and another to finalize the extension. Users are advised to prepare documents beyond just TM30 and to be aware of potential short extensions that may necessitate leaving the country.

you go to the same counter where you got your 30 day extension on your tourist visa to apply for a covid extension. There is no guarantee you will get it, and it is usually issued in two steps, you apply, pay the 1900baht, get an under consideration stamp (which you CANNOT use to change to another visa type) and then you go back on that date to get the covid extension inked in <- then you can apply for the Non-B

If they deny the covid extension and you get an "application for extension not approved" 7 day stamp, that means you LEAVE the country in a week, and there's no getting another extension from it. you have to leave.

I was told if I get the covid extension, I cannot switch it to non B in the country. The school advised maybe doing a border run? Is that an option? To do a border run to Cambodia and stamp back in on 30 days?

, better to follow your new employer's advice if they say so.

Border-run is an option. You may need to stay at least one night in Cambodia if you choose one of the Cambodian borders.

I've done Cambodia border runs in the past, never had to stay overnight. Just going with a visa company, there and back in about 10 hours.. hopefully it's still like that

totally depends on what border you to to and if you use a company to take to there and back or do it yourself. The fee the company charges already has the "bend the rule so you don't have to stay a day in cambodia" figured into the price. ๐Ÿ˜›

Poipet is the worst border right now to bounce at and I don't know any services that use it.

Good Luck with it, don't forget you need an approved thai pass to get back in (but again most services that take you to the border have that and the mandatory 10K USD of insurance figured in to the cost as well)

, that started after Covid re-opening at major borders.
