Hi,

My last working day in Thailand is on 29th April and we are flying out of the country on 30th April.

I am planning to go to Chaeng wattana immigration office on 25th April.

What is the procedure as well as list of documents needed from my employer to cancel the visa so that I can leave on 30th april, 1 day after my last day at work on 29th April ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your visa at Chaeng Wattana immigration office, you will need to bring documentation from your employer indicating your termination date and proof of cancellation of your work permit. This must be done before you leave Thailand, which is planned for one day after your last working day. If you plan to leave the day after your last day at work, you may incur a 500 baht overstay fine unless you manage to cancel your extension and request a 7-day exit stamp for 1900 baht. If your overstay is under 24 hours, you might be eligible for a fine waiver.

Thank you everyone for the specific guidelines. So helpful to get this clarity.

One other thing I will point out IS, if you fly out with an overstay of under 24 hours you won't be fined the 500baht and just get a thai only stamp in your passport that says "overstay under 24 hours fine waived"

You take the documentation from your employer showing your termination date and proof you cancelled the work permit to Chaengwattana, they will cancel your extension effective that date.

If you're flying out the day after that date you'd pull a 500 baht overstay fine, OR you could ask when you cancel your extension for a 7 day "get out of thailand" stamp for 1900baht which gives you a week to get out of the country.

It might be worth pointing out that depending on your future plans getting an overstay on your record might not be a good idea. I know for a fact that when you apply for a Thailand Elite visa the application form asks if you have overstayed in Thailand in the past 3 years. I don’t know if it affects you in any other ways.

it may be a concern for extended overstays but not for a day or two

it was for those who sought to obtain the Thai Elite Visa last year.

Exactly. When I left my last job I got a slightly odd “ not approved” Extension of Stay stamp giving me 7 days to leave the country after submission of my WP cancellation receipt to immigration. I don’t recall what form I submitted to get the stamp as it was prepared by my employer HR manager but I remember paying the 1900 Baht.

, you should have used a standard TM.7 "APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF TEMPORARY STAY IN THE KINGDOM" form for whatever reason without any proof.
