I have a non-immigrant O visa (Thai spouse) and my first 90 days ends on April 20th. What do I take to the Buriram office? Am I getting an extension or just reporting since I can't make a border run?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a Non-Immigrant O visa based on marriage and your 90-day reporting is due, you need to visit the Buriram immigration office. It is essential to know whether you're extending your stay or solely reporting. For an extension, you have three options: 1) Apply for a one-year extension based on financial criteria (400K baht in a Thai bank account), 2) a 60-day family visit extension, or 3) a 60-day COVID-19 extension. If you're only doing a 90-day report, bring your passport along with relevant documentation like copies of your visa and entry stamp.

wanna say what immigration office out of the 70+ offices in the country you're gonna be doing a 90 day report at or you just want people to start telling you what their office requires?

maybe for you, not for me sir. Did just that last week Udon Thani imm, couldn’t even get in, handed passport, was asked to sit on a chair outside, 5 minutes later got my passport back with yellow paper mentioning next 90 days date.

Is this clear to you now sir?

Okay,
@Ri**
I think you need to LOOK at the little red entry stamp you got when you stamped IN to the country. Unless I'm wrong you only got stamped in for 90 days AND on that stamp you don't do 90 day reporting AND you can't do a border bounce which leaves you with a stamp that is running out :O

You have three options for an extension (good news is all extensions cost the same 1900baht ;) ) :

Option 1:

you meet the financial requirements (400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for your extension) and apply for a year extension based on marriage

Option 2:

you apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension <- which you can do ONCE per entry. This doesn't have any financial requirements

Option 3:

you apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension <- which you can do until May 29th

IF you can't meet the requirements to get the year extension, I'd go for the covid extension and then use that time to find a way to meet the requirements so you can apply for a yearly extension based on marriage.

The days of bouncing out and back in on a multi-entry Non-O to get another 90 days is long gone and I doubt that it's gonna come back for a good while.

thanks for the information. I have a one-year multiple entry visa. I’m not clear on whether I extend (which requires various documents), or just report since I can’t get across a border to get a new stamp

@Rick ********
, as I said LOOK at the red ENTRY stamp you got when you stamped IN to the country and you'll see that you got stamped in for 90 days. That's the most time you can get stamped in on that visa. That you can't bounce out and back in to get a new 90 day entry stamp is not the problem of the thai immigration office it's yours :O

You have exactly the three choices I stated,

You apply for a year extension by meeting the financial requirements, you apply for a 60 day visit family extension OR you apply for a 60 day covid extension. Other than leaving and coming back in going thru quarantine etc those are your only options.

So when does your 90 day entry stamp expire?

April 22nd

Well then
@Ri**
you got until that date to figure out what one of the three options I outlined to you you're going to take to get an extension to stay OR you're gonna leave on or before that date. :O

As harsh as that sounds those are your choices.

Just a bit of unsolicited advice ;)

IF you're not going to go for the year extension then take the 60 day covid extension (and apply for it close to the date your current stamp is running out. They'll start it from the date you apply not add it to your current stamp because you're changing the reason for being here from the Non-O to covid).

The reason I say to do that though is you can only get ONE 60 day visit thai family extension per entry and there's no need to use it IF you can get the same 60 days for a covid extension.

Milk the covid extensions as long as you can and keep that family extension for when you really need it :)

If the visa ends on the 20th April you'll be applying for an extention of stay, either 1 year or 60 days.

Passport only

that is totally not correct :(

That's all I take jontien immigration in and out 90 day done 5 minutes

@Peter ********
he specifically says he's on a Non-O visa AND he can't border run now, <- which Leads me to believe he's a recent arrival, got stamped in for 90 days and doesn't HAVE a year extension yet (so he wouldn't do a 90 day report)

Let's see what he answers below.

BUT if the O/P had a year extension and was needing to just do a 90 day report you'd be spot on (y)

I am thinking he is actually only on a 90 day entry stamp though and will NEED to get some type of extension when this stamp is running out
