Can you open a bank account in Thailand with a DTV visa?
I successfully opened a bank account with a DTV visa without incurring any extra charges or needing an agent.
You can also open a bank account at most TTB Bank branches with the following documents.
1. Passport
2. DTV Visa
3. Thai Driving License or other gov ID card
4. Residential house registration
5. lease agreement
6. TM30

I do as you say to open ttb bank in Chiang Mai with dtv. it doesn't work

Went to TTB Siam Paragon today. Rejected my application for a bank account as I do not have an “employment contract from a Thai company” under DTV. Tried my very best to explain that you cant work for a Thai company if you have DTV. But the guy was adamant that I need to work for a Thai company for me to get approved a bank account for DTV. Welcome to Thailand!

There is no law regarding bank accounts ... you can have one on any visa or no visa at all. It is just rules made up by the mother bank or the bank branch.Bernardo *************

maybe the employees can relay to their bosses what I showed them (link from Thai Immigration website that DTV holders can’t work for a Thai company). It is basically saying that you need to break Thai immigration laws to be able to secure a bank account on a DTV.Angelo ***********

Well, my landlord wanted to see my work visa. I told him: I do not work. Some banks are like that ... the boss of the bank (branch) set up some rules, what can the employees do?

Plus he had to buy 7k THB insurance. An agent is 5k!

You may have one branch that granted a bank account. The reality is its pretty much a dead stop NO with a DTV or tourist visa.Mac *******

things have changed. and its very strict now. most banks will not open an account for TR and DTV. even ED is hard now… thats the reality. good if you found a single branch. but not everyone goes to bangkok or seedy pattaya

sukhumvit pattaya mate, next to Num Chai electrical, Google it, very small branch but is very good, you will have to pay a fee for "insurance" but well worth it, I was stopping at a hotel at the time aswell, I live here now but I know others that have recently done the same
