Hi, has anyone with a DTV recently done a border run? Was it land or air? What documents did they request from you at immigration? I will probably prepare everything just to be safe, but I’m wondering what kinds of experiences people have been having at immigration lately. Thank you!
Answer summary
Users share their experiences with border runs in Thailand on a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), noting that most have not faced issues or been questioned at immigration, regardless of travel method (air or land). Commonly required documents include a passport, printed DTV visa, and a completed TDAC form. Travelers are advised to carry additional documents just in case, such as proof of accommodation (TM30). The response highlights variability in experiences, with some individuals undergoing thorough questioning based on appearance or travel circumstances.

3 times into Thailand by air last month with my passport and DTV stapled inside. That’s it. One minute to stamp in. CNX and DMK.

Do you need to do a TDAC form on all 3 occasions?

I travel in and out of Thailand by plane around once or twice every month since I got my DTV in October 2024. Never been asked a thing.

Not waiting till day 180 might indeed also help not getting questioned.

Staying 180 days and return same day might create the impression you are trying to use the visa for living full time in Thailand.

Just prepare the usual: Passport. DTV printout. And have TDAC filled out online.

Considering you applied online, you should have any other docs available to be viewed on a phone or forwarded to an email the IO wants them sent to.

In other words, don't stress. They chances you get pressed for further info, etc are very slim.

Most have no problems at all. Those that do have extra questioning set off immigration's radar for some other reason, as they profile and stereotype. If you look poor, unkept, wearing "hippy" clothes, dregs, and carrying a well worn backpack, you can expect further scrutiny. Wear clean long pants, a collared clean shirt, with a nice haircut, carrying a regular suitcase, and you shouldn't have any problem, no matter where you cross at. Take an overnight bus trip to Mukdahan, cross the border, come back, and catch the next bus back to Bangkok. That's the cheapest way.

Each border crossing is different. I’m familiar with the northern border into Laos at the Chiang Khong (safest choice) and Chiang Saen.

If you have the time to spend a few days in Laos, it will be no problem.

If you’re trying to do a same day bounce, it probably won’t be a problem, but it’s safest to go with an experienced border bounce company or agent. I have an agent/driver escort me through the border to minimize having any problems.

I’ve never been asked for additional documents. But I do bring everything with me (proof of activity, TM30, etc.).

DTV_Pag_Backer hello, how would you bring the TM30 with you if you are crossing the border and not inside Thailand yet?

Thank you

Anonymous participant 844 I have a long term rental. Yes I will need a new TM30 from my owner upon my new entry. But I always carry the most current one I have.

Passport, printed visa and TDAC.

BUT as we all should know, Immigration Officers are allowed to ask additional questions about your visit to Thailand.

By reading reports of DTV holders:

Anonymous was stamped in for 180 days without any question.

Anonymous was asked about his Muay Thai school

Anonymous was asked why he applied for the DTV

Anonymous was asked to show 20.000 Thb or equivalent in cash.

BUT nickname showed a cell phone and was allowed to enter without passport, money, visa and TDAC as he used AI generated pictures.

A. Nony Mous I forgot one story. I was nearly deported but I met a Thai girl in a bar and remembered her name and phone number, when I told the IO, he let me in.
