Is there a time limit when you receive a reentry stamp to return to Thailand
Answer summary
The time limit for returning to Thailand after receiving a reentry stamp is linked to your existing permission to stay date. You must return before your existing visa or extension expires. The reentry permit maintains your current visa status for your return, but it does not extend your stay. Ensure to check your passport for the validity dates of your reentry permit and original entry stamp.

Right...I don't want to get bombarded with negativity or, well...'you did ask' and you were told, especially as I was told to get a stamp to come back in.

Right here goes...

I left over last weekend

/2026.

I had been told by various ex-pats to get a return stamp.

I went through the doors/gates, saw on the ground floor (Sukhumvit), just before going up the escalator to security and beyond, the return stamp area(can't think of the proper name) and went over to ask.

"Do I need a re-entry stamp, to come back please?"..she paused looked at my various stamps, I had only been granted my retirement visa 2 days prior and said, no, no need you can and I quote, "come and go as you please", music to my ferrang ears.

Her friend came over, no facial mask on(like her friend )to look at my passport, studied it even harder and agreed with her colleague, "no no stamp needed, you no have pay, lucky!"

So I'm sat here now... worrying that I'll end up

1.not being let back in,

2. Losing my 3 day old retirement visas(costly) pursuit!

Please 🙏 someone give the the correct answer.

Not...asking for a friend this time ..

James Gaffney Anyone with an Unexpired or Unused if Single Entry « Re–Entry Permit » ink stamp inside their Passport, then upon Entry into Thailand, Double Check and make sure your Entry Stamp into Thailand is « NON—RE » with the Date matching your latest Re–Entry Permit

Look at the actual Re–Entry Permit ink stamp inside your Passport Book

The dates are clear and your Re–Entry Permit Validity Date would match the Validity Date of your latest stamp (usually an Extension of Stay, but could be other stamps)

No, it will be valid up to your permitted to stay date

A re-entry permit only keeps the existing permission to stay stamp you already have in your passport alive when you leave Thailand. It does not give you any extra time. You must be back before your existing permission ends to apply for an extension.

Mark Slater in Thailand the only thing allowing up to one year of expiry before you start over, is renewing your Thai driver's licenses, that, if over one year expired, you have to retake the driving test. If less than a year just a small fine...that's the only thing I've heard of allowing renewal/extension if it was expired.

Mark Slater no, it's linked to your stamped permission to stay date
