What do I need to know for a spontaneous visit to Thailand regarding hotels, entry documents, and health insurance?

Hello lovely folks.:)

I'm planning a visit to Thailand but it's very spontaneous and I dont have much time to find out everything necessary. It'd be an awesome help if someone who has been there recently could help me out. What's the best option for a hotel you picked in Bangkok - cheapest yet nice, and how much was it? How much do the tests on day 1 and 5 cost?

Mainly, do I need to have all the documents ready to show at the moment of entry Thailand or before that (while purchasing the ticket or departing from coubtry of origin)? As I'm do I have to apply for anything in advance?

Which insurance did you use, do you need to have it for the whole time of stay? Do they require to see your onwards/return ticket? The visa is free, upon arrival and up to 60 days right?

Just to confirm, documents necessary upon arrival are insurance covering min 50.000 for Covid related expenses (is 5hat in usd?), purchased Acom for first night and then the night from day 5 to day 6 (or from day 4 to day 5?) and that's it right. Or how did you arrange the transport from airport to ur Acom, also do they check that too?

I know it's a lot of questions but I'm sure it might help others too. Thanks everyone who takes the time to answer that.

Thanks a lot! ❤️

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information about planning a last-minute trip to Thailand, focusing on hotel recommendations, COVID testing costs, necessary documents for entry, and travel insurance. They inquire about the requirements for entry such as having all documents prepared upon arrival, whether health insurance is mandatory for the entire stay, and if a return ticket is necessary. There are suggestions from the community indicating that Thailand currently has strict entry requirements, including needing a Thailand Pass and proper planning well in advance.

Thailand is not a place for a spontaneous visit period. Needs planning at this time.

If you haven't even started planning yet, getting everything booked and your Thailand Pass before March 1st is going to be very difficult.

If you book a test and go package that should include hotel transport to collect you at the airport,

Thailand is not really open to spontaneous travel at the moment with a number of hoops that need to be jumped through.

Your local RTE website will have the latest information.

how long does it take to get that? Where do I get one? Do I need to apply for that before travel right?

on the Thai Pass Web site it will tell you what you need. For the covid insurance you can use a company in your home country or you can use a Thai company such as AXA Sawasdee. The benefit of that is they will give you a certificate summarising the cover ideal for the Thailand Pass application. Very easy to apply for on line and you get the certificate straight away. There are a few tips when applying for the Thailand Pass. I don't think you can upload pdf so take a picture of docs and do it as jpeg. There were problems for people using hotmIl as an email address so don't use that use Gmail or something else. You can do it just go for it. As someone said give it 7 days before you travel minimum. And take paper copies of all your docs. Good luck.

hi jake. Best to apply for thai pass 7-10 days before travel. Sometimes approval is quick, sometimes not. The thai pass is free but you must upload several documents like vax certificate, sha plus + hotel receipt, flight and insurance covering covid. Google thai pass or scroll thru the 'topics' of this group. Good luck

Google would be more specific as new forthcoming changes were announced yesterday for travel as of march 1st onwards I believe
