Hi guys.

Looking for clarifications.

I'm currently living and working in Thailand as a teacher. During the Songkran holidays I would like to return home for a couple of weeks or so.

My questions are:

- Must I notify my local immigration?

- What documents do I need to prepare having in mind I'll be returning to the kingdom? (Does any document need to be from my work?)

- In the test and go scheme does the local insurance we have here cover covid? or can it be used under this scheme?

- Before registering for test and go in order to get a qr code must my flight, hotel and tests already be booked and reserved?

- Can we register for test and go upto a month before our travel date?

- Lastly what's the average price in Bkk for Sha hotel+pcr test (1day)

Thanks in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A teacher in Thailand seeks clarification on several travel-related questions regarding a trip home during Songkran. Key inquiries include whether notification to local immigration is necessary, required documents for re-entering Thailand, insurance coverage under the Test and Go scheme, booking prerequisites for Thailand Pass registration, lead time for registration, and average costs for SHA hotels and PCR tests in Bangkok. Responses indicate that notifying immigration is not required, but a re-entry permit is needed. Insurance must cover at least $20,000, and all travel arrangements must be booked prior to applying for the Thailand Pass. The application can be submitted up to 60 days in advance, with estimated hotel and testing costs around 4,000-6,000 baht.

Quote from a recent TAT news article.

An insurance policy with coverage no less than US$20,000. Thais and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage are exempt from this requirement.

You don't need to notify immigration that you are leaving, but you likely need to purchase a re-entry permit so your existing extension doesn't go invalid when you leave the country. These can be purchased at immigration or at the airport between security and immigration.

The new requirement is $20,000 USD, so if you're insurance covers you for $20,000 then it is adequate.

You cannot apply for a Thailand Pass until you have everything booked already.

You can apply up to 60 days in advance for a Thailand Pass.

Around 4000-6000 baht for day 1.
