Hey,

I am from Germany and got a job offered in Thailand to start asap on this on the visa which allows me to work.

Now I have to make travel arrangements considering all covid19 restrictions.

What costs do I have to face?

Hotel quarantine =?

I heard about a additional Corona incurence?!

Anyone in the same situation or any ideas?

Super happy about help and advice, πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking help regarding the costs associated with traveling to Thailand for work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Key costs include hotel quarantine expenses ranging from approximately THB 36,000 to THB 120,000, a negative COVID test required 72 hours before departure, and COVID insurance that covers up to USD 100,000. realizing the rapidly detiorating global situation last March and still riding out amnesty for 1900 baht and no insurance, flight, paperwork hassles, COE, masked flights and carnage..... Priceless. Wave 2 is coming. If you have not yet unfucked yourself from last time, today is the day. Cheers to those that did.

it is helpful, if one takes the time to consider why their bad decision making then, has them in the position they are in now. Fix the process and we start to succeed. And i have no problems whatsoever. This has been brilliant. Best time in history to be travelling Thailand.

I am on a work permit and arrived last Sat. Still in quarantine hotel. You need to ask your employer to get you a WP3. WP3 can get you a visa. Once you have visa, together with COVID USD100,000 insurance, ASQ hotel confirmation and air ticket, you can get COE in about 14 days. (If we arrange the flight ourselves, only 7 days. If you take the repatriation flight 14 days)

Visa is HKD600. Insurance is THB3,989. ASQ hotel ranges THB36,000 to THB72,000. Air ticket you find out. COE is free.

(HK is low risk country. Not sure whether the detail are the same in Germany)

I just chose the 90 days plan but it says that it costs 6400 baht. Also in your case, what then happens after those three months? Do you continue to pay?

I don’t know the difference is because of price change or country you are from. THB6,400 is relatively cheap. From my previous experience, I know Hong Kong embassy will only issue me work permit for 3 months. You can call it temporary work permit. Within the 3 month I need to extend the visa to a year in Thailand. Theoretically speaking after 3 months I need a health insurance and COVID insurance to extend my work permit. But I am pretty sure can get one in Thai cover both.

One more thing. Your employer might get info that WP3 is not issued anymore due to the COVID. That is not true. Hong Kong embassy confirmed they received application with WP3 since July.

It is the Ministry of Labour document they provide after your employer applies for work permit. You use this to apply for visa in home or other country to travel to Thailand for work. Once here you get WP and extend visa. Of course during Covid more complicated with COE.

Hotel quarantine ranges from around 40k-120k. Your choice. Price includes accommodation, meals and necessary Covid checks. You need valid visa, a Certificate of entry from your local embassy, Covid insurance cover for up to 100,000 USD. A fit to fly certificate and a negative Covid test up to 72 hours before departure.

Your employer should organise much (if not most) of this. You might also check with the embassy of Thailand in your country.
