Hello everyone. I am helping my friend from the USA come to visit me in Thailand on visa exemption for 60 days total. We both have limited means and limited funds so we want to be very cautious and make sure we both everything properly the first time. I appreciate everyone's help in advance. Can anyone advocate for the legitimacy of the following before we go spend spend a bunch of money?? Is there anything I'm missing before we apply for my friend's COE?

-roundtrip flight with Qatar airways (phl-bkk)

-ASQ booked through Agoda at Villa de Khaosan by Chillax or ibis Styles Bkk sukhumvit

-covid insurance through Luma healthcare or Medex healthcare.

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is assisting a friend from the USA in visiting Thailand under a 60-day visa exemption and is seeking validation for their planned arrangements. They have booked a round-trip flight, an ASQ hotel stay, and are planning to secure COVID health insurance. Other commenters offered advice including ensuring the correct COVID test is taken, waiting for pre-approval before hotel payment, and bringing extra documentation to avoid issues during travel.

You need the PCR COVID test

I just went through all this last month. I used my recently renewed retirement visa so I can’t give advice on qualifying the other type. The rest was pretty straight forward. Line up the correct Covid test in advance, not the quick one, the one with the nasal swab. I had some anxiety with that since some places couldn’t guarantee the needed turnaround of under 3 days before my flight. Don’t pay for the hotel until you are pre approved. I sent proof of my vaccinations even though it bought me no time off my quarantine period. It was advised to take extra hard copies or everything, including tests, passport, coe, insurance, hotel proof so I did. It helped.

The website worked pretty well and the consulate, in Chicago anyway, was fast. So was Bangkok. Good lick
