Hi helpful people, I'm in BKK in the ASOK area Iยดm staying on my 60 days Touristvisa that's expiring on the 3rd of January. I got a new flight home for 25th February. So i wanna get the Covid Extension the first time. Now three questions:

1.What's the correct Immigration in BKK for this purpose?

2.What else i need except my passport, 1900thb, 1 picture and my flight details leaving?

3.What's the best time to go there, I wanna go today or tomorrow?

Thank you,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on obtaining a COVID extension for their 60-day tourist visa expiring on January 3rd, with a departure flight scheduled for February 25th. Key questions include the correct immigration location in Bangkok, additional required documents, and the best time to visit. Community responses indicate that the Muang Thong Thani immigration office is the correct location for those on a visa exemption. Required documents include a passport, fee (1,900 THB), photos, flight confirmation, and potentially a TM30 form. It's advised to visit during open hours, and community members noted that they received their extensions without hassle when adequately prepared.

what this post isn't gonna turn into is a debate on whether the elite visa is a viable visa option for you or if it's "worth the price it costs". Those are decisions YOU need to make.

Good luck with it (y)

Hey Gents, I just wanna give you an update. I have been today at MTT arrived at 0930H and left at 1020H with my 60 days Covid Extension. They requested the TM30 as I entered Thailand in another Provinz (Phuket). They added the 60 days to my other stamp so I am now good till 03March2022. Easy going no hustle at all, but I also presented my Flight Booking for the end of February. Thx Gents !!!

you shouldn't have any problem getting the Elite visa paperwork done by then at all

Today in the Waiting Room at the Immigration somebody told me the Elite Visa is a waste of money as I only want to stay 5-6 months a year in Thailand. Do you have any other suggestions? Iยดm 38 living from dividends of my Company ( no monthly paycheck) Iยดm a holder of the US & German Passport. Single and don't wanna get married

@Jack ******
That's totally your preference. I know a guy who prefers Elite rather than retirement because he just wants to travel Thailand often but wouldn't live maybe several months total a year. He can use the privilege and doesn't have to worry about repeated entries.

One guy got Elite to live in Thailand rather than retirement for the easy mind.

One guy wants to have Elite but doesn't like the upfront money, still, he thinks it is worth it for those privileges.

Some others think it's too expensive just to keep living here.

As mentioned above, SETV, METV as well.

You may need to do more research...

@Jack ******
One option (WHEN the land borders reopen) is a multiple entry tourist visa (METV). If used correctly, you should be able to get 9 months out of it.

This visa is valid for 6 months. On entry, you are stamped in for 60 days. You can acquire ONE 30 day extension of stay per each entry. You can enter and leave on this visa unlimited times during the validity period (6 months), and on each entry, you will be stamped in for 60 days. There is no "minimum amount of days outside of Thailand" required before being allowed to return to Thailand.

Thx all! I will change soon to the Elite Visa to get a proper Visa, but they told me they canโ€™t do this now in this short time

thx Tod, I entered without a Visa and got first my 30 days and then another 30 days. Thx for avoiding wasting a complete day at the wrong immigration! So I will go to the MTT. Should i pay for the 1 month rent first or can I go just with the 1 week rent for the TM30
Ellie *******
As you don't have a long-term extension, the length of stay doesn't matter. The current TM30 receipt with address in Bangkok is good enough.

Let's get this sorted out because in your original post you say

"๐—œยด๐—บ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—บ๐˜† ๐Ÿฒ๐Ÿฌ ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐˜€ ๐—ง๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐˜€๐˜๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฎ" and then in another answer further down you say

So let's get this hashed out:

IF you BOUGHT a tourist visa from the thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days you go to Chaengwattana

whereas

IF you showed up here with NO visa in your passport and were stamped in for 30 days on a visa exempt stamp you go to Muang Thong Thani.

Now whether they will start it the day you apply OR whether they will add it to your current expiration is totally at the discretion of the officer.

Thx Mate !!!! I really would hat waisting a complete day for nothing
Ellie *******
@Jack ******
, You want to go to Muang Thon Thani, not Chaengwattna, between 27 - 30 Dec to apply for a Covid extension.

MTT will be open 8:30 - 12:00 & 13:00 - 16:30 but queing will be stop 15:30.
Ellie *******
If it's your first 60days Covid extension, You sure want to go to the immigration office 27-30 Dec. Most likely the first covid extension will be started on the day of application, not added to your current stamp, and you want your extension at least until 25 Feb.

CW will be open 8:30 - 12:00 & 13:00 - 16:30 but queing will be stop 15:30.

But if you didn't get your 30days standard tourism extension yet, be ready you are told you have to apply that first.
Ellie *******
Wait, if you enter Thailand on a visa exemption scheme, you HAVE TO go to MTT, not Chanegwattna.

Opening time is same.
Ellie *******
The first Covid extension (different reason from tourism you are on) will start on the day of application. If you apply for a second time or later, usually they will be added to your existing stamp.

You are okay trying for a Covid extension you already got 30days.

Thx Ellie, so i thought i was reading here the 60 days are counting from the end of the last stamp, so this is wrong? I entered with the 30 days exemption for germans and did a few days later the 30 days extra in Phuket
James ********
No guarantee the 60 days COVID extension will be granted.

Have you already obtained a 30 day extension since you arrived ?

From your post it appears not.

Hey James, i did, so i need the covid extension. If i go today the 60 days count from this day then? As i would like to stay till 25th Feb...

I got the ticket, and nobody will get this letter they should know this

@Jack ******
you may not be approved.

And trying to squeeze a few extra days not wise as they may want a letter from your Embassy and see a flight ticket departing Thailand.

New criteria being used in granting the COVID extension.

You may be asked for a letter from your home country Embassy citing its not open for your return.

>What's the correct Immigration in BKK for this purpose?

Changwattana

>What else i need except my passport, 1900thb, 1 picture and my flight details leaving?

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. [May be asked] A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms, and want to use their special forms). For BKK, the forms are found in the "FILES" section of this group.

4. [May be asked] A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy website saying they donโ€™t issue the letters, OR a print out of a letter from the embassy saying they don't issue those letters.

5. 1x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Thx !!! But do i need to leave again with the TM30 signed from my Landloard? at the moment i only booked 1 more week, should i sign the month contract first and should go to the immigration? Whats the best time to arrive at the Immigration?
Benjamin ******
@Jack ******
>Whats the best time to arrive at the Immigration?

Anytime this week would be great. I think a lot of foreigners think it's closed for Christmas. Immigration is open from 8:30 - 11:30 and then 1:00 - 3:30, if my memory serves me right
Benjamin ******
@Jack ******
The TM30 is not "signed". Most landlords file it remotely. You'd use one of the two documents below as proof the TM30 was submitted.
