Yesterday I went to Jotiemm to extend my tourist visa. I got the paperwork and then went to the photo and copy place in the photo below. The lady who owns it charged me 100 BHT for 4 photos and 30 BHT for 6 copies. She then put all the paperwork together and helped me fill it out. Then advised me to come back to immigration tomorrow at 8am. It was late afternoon noon at the time. Showed up today at 8am. Since I had a receipt in my passport from getting my driver's license last month. That proved my address. They didn't need me to do a proof of address form. So they gave me a number I went into immigration. I was number five. I waited about 15 minutes and they took my passport and my 1900 BHT. Then I went outside, waited and finally got my passport after about a half hour. And I was out of there in a total of 50 minutes. Just so you know My visa was expiring on the 24th but they did it today before the 7 days or even 10 days. So now I have 30 more days in Thailand and I have to leave on the 25th of July. Be honest that lady at the copy center really helped me out so I went and bought her three kilos of Mongo's. Cost me 80 BHT.

Can an agent extend your visa on your behalf or do you need to go in person?

Was in Thailand last month and needed to extend my tourist visa by 12 days as would be a overstayer.

I went to a local immigration office with a official filled out application form from the Thailand Government website and a recent passport photo..

Now here is my point and why some Immigration offices just love loads of paper work and want to give you a bad day !!

They rejected my filled in application but couldn't give me a valid reason ..even the i had a valid passport recent photo..confirmation of a hotel booking ..return flight date and more than adequate funds..

They only approved my visa extension because i could show proof of my Thai girlfriends details after they phoned her !!.

I paid my 1900 baht (cash only) and told to come back later because they were all going for 1 hour lunch break..

I been there 4 hours not to mention the taxi driver took me to the wrong building..

Apart from raining most of the day and finding out the hotel taxi service costing 950 baht and my own taxi back 200 baht !!!

It's a long story i know but this could happen to YOU.

Like Clint Eastwood said out of the movie..

Go ahead and make my

DAY ..

Thats also the trick at Koh Phangan, having everything ready the day before

At 8am the lines for the copyshop are longer than the one for the officers.

The ladies (and men) that run the copy shops in the immigration offices up and down the country are brilliant. They always know the documents you need for whatever you need from immigration. Great post.

Iโ€™m convinced theyโ€™re the people who dream up the requirements.

555 I have never heard that before but I can see where you're coming from. I extend my visa on marriage on being married to a Thai national, there is definitely a bit of money in doing all my printing. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Good shop that, i used to go there, cheaper than the one outside Immigration

@Peter ******
where is it

@Michael *****
before you turn right into Immigration instead go straight on towards 2nd road, it's on the right

Cool story..Why would you extend your visa on the 13th when you still had till the 24th?
Andy ********
@Phillip *******
great question.

If you extend a visa for the same reason that you got it, in this case tourism, the days are added to the original stay.

If you change the reason then the new extension starts from the date you are granted the extension.

hmm you have go every monthโ€ฆ.

Exactly what I thought. Normally did it with a day or 2 to spare. Now I am a volunteer in some dog sanctuary up north. Saves a lot of hassle. 30k for the year, no reporting.

@Phillip *******
the days get added to it. You donโ€™t lose days when you go early. Unless youโ€™re applying for the 60 day married to a Thai extension.
