Received my under consideration stamp today at Muang Thani saying to come back on Sep 22. US passport. 30 day visa on arrival already extended 30 days and was on amnesty. No until the 26th stamp was added. Use blue ink.
Handed them (counter k)
1. My passport.
2. 1 Copy of: (sign each page)
a. Data ("picture") page
b. A copy of the page with visa exempt stamp
c. A copy of the departure card
d. A copy of embassy letter(mine was in color, printed from an email. No one is clear on the rules on this item, at this office yet. ) others are reporting that color pdf's have been accepted when they went back to convert from under consideration to an extension.
3. ONE passport photo (only handed one photo. Others have said 2 is needed. 🤷🏼♂️)
4. 1,900 THB fee (be sure to hand it seperate from you stack of papers or they will drop it.)
5. A form acknowledging the overstay penalty. They will provide this.
6. TM 7
7. Proof of an appointment booking online. Vital. They can just look at your phone though. No copy was needed for me, but others report that they do.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user details their experience obtaining a visa extension stamp at the Muang Thani immigration office in Thailand. They provided a list of required documents which included their passport, copies of relevant pages, a passport photo, the visa extension fee, an acknowledgment form for any overstay penalty, and proof of an online appointment booking. Comments reflect questions and shared experiences regarding the process, document requirements, and the specifics of managing appointments related to visa extensions.
I went through this process a bit earlier than everyone on here as I went in with my embassy letter on 11 August and needed to return on 8 Sept (same day as Brian). Counter K at the building next to the tent. My embassy letter was also colour printed. So with no hassles I got extension stamp of 26 October. For those travelling there, you can take a 166 numbered bus from Victory Monument all the way to Impact Stadium and then walk 1-2 blocks the rest of the way past a few shops. There’s a few places to eat and have refreshments at Impact including a 7-11. The 166 bus does take an expressway route, but also goes past Central Plaza Chaeng Watthana first before looping back to Muang Thani
what country was your letter from? This is news and deserves it's own post. Right now we have only seen stamps from people with a original stamped copy of the embassy letter handed to them by their embassy, so a copy is breaking news.
can you make a new post. You can copy paste and edit mine. A color copy being accepted at muang Thani AND becoming an extension is news. Other provinces will only take stamped letters. Worth a new post
I'm trying to make this as clear as possible. You are the first person in Thailand to get an extension with a print out of a pdf in color and not a raised stamp original letter. Others have been getting rejected in other provinces with that. You should start a new post so people know that muang Thani accepts color pdf
is far from the first person to get an extension with a printed copy of the embassy letter (and the email) in fact only a FEW offices are requiring a hard copy of the letter (and if people say they want to appeal that the officers usually back down).
I'd wager hHundreds and hundreds of people all over the country have gotten their "under consideration" stamps using a print out of the embassy letters right now..
sure, but none of those 100's have posted a stamp online publicly of an extension? Have you seen on privately? People keep dm me asking if the letter needs to be a hard copy. I figured a pdf is find since it went under consideration, but with the thai government, you really don't know till you see the finished product.
there are a couple offices (those wack-a-doodle ones in the south that cover the islands mostly) which are telling people it has to be a hard copy but I think they back pedaled on it by now. There is NOTHING in the rules that says it can't be the PDF emailed to you along with the accompanying email to show it came from your embassy
In that case I may had just been lucky with my timing. It was a month ago now when I took my paperwork in. I only saw 2 or 3 other people visiting immigration while I was there while there was about a dozen staff there. Perhaps they didn’t have much to do that day so had time to check up with my embassy to verify it was valid. The day I visited them it was also the day after NZ had posted 100 days of being covid free locally and so my country had some positive news coverage. Perhaps the agent admires NZ’s young female prime minister so went easy on me. Who knows, perhaps I was the just the first with an embassy letter to process. I can’t really claim what you suggest, I just feel fortunate to be approved.
pretty certain my landlord did not file a tm30 on me. So none of that stuff in bkk. Just write down an address. They insist on a thai phone number and at some point make you write it on some random document that I can't remember. None of the other junk. No lease. No proof of stay. No selfies in your bedroom or, at the mailbox or with your landlord next to the hand drawn map you both drew while standing on one foot blind folded.
they don't ask for it on the 30 day embassy extension off a 30 day visa exempt or tourist visa entry that went to amnesty. There is no did immigration check up on people for the 30 day extension.
, when I did my amnesty in Pathum Thani from a visa exempt entry, they told me to expect a visit from immigration police. Are you saying this is different?
Sorry if this has already been answered, but for what counter should I book an appointment online for the 30 days extension if my TR expired and I'm on Amnesty now- should it be TR60 or K?
I made a mistake and only prepared one copy of the docs. Is it easy to get copies made there or should I make sure to get them done before? Same with ATM, go before getting in a grab?
Seriously, thanks for all your posts, super helpful!
that is 99% of the way there and if they follow that it will get you inside the right area. Just keep going a bit further. Counter J and K are further in.
GPS will try to take you the red way but it's blocked. Just google any of the immigration pins in that area and just direct the driver too one of the two ways in.
there seems to be nothing at muang Thani, no copy machine or atm. Make sure you bring what you need. I made another post with the exact pin of the entrance. Tell your grab to go there or you will 100% get lost.
I’m hearing that an “original copy” of the embassy letter is required. The US Embassy only emailed me one to print out myself. Did you manage to receive an original letter mailed to you, or the copy you printed yourself was sufficient?
Thank you. I’ve emailed US embassy and requested a hard copy, so we’ll see if they can provide. I’m going to give it a shot at Chiang Mai Immigration soon and I’ll report back if anything interesting happens. Thanks again! 🙏🏼
please be careful how you toss around the word hard copy, since to me that would imply the physically raised seal version from embassy. I belive you mean a print out from the email pdf? Was it color or black and white? What immigration office? Each one is giving different sets of rules so people would like to know this info.
printed a color copy from email. No idea if that's 100% valid or not since no americans have reported if they went from under consideration to an extension yet, but the color copy was accepted at muang Thani for an under consideration stamp. Rules will vary by which immigration office serves your area.
worth asking but file with the color copy since you have to apply by the 11th. If they reject it on the grounds that a hard stamped copy us needed then they will probably give a few days to correct it
"7. Proof of an appointment booking online. Vital. They can just look at your phone though. No copy needed." question, is this booking for the appointment with immigration ? And is this Muang Thani is the alternative BKK location I assume? Thx
under consideration is the first step to obtain it. In theory your correct, but we won't know until sep 11th when the first us passport holders go back to convert the under consideration to a real visa.
wow, didn’t know that. So it means that to get a 30 days extension you need to come twice. First time to apply documents and pay 1900batt; and for the second time to find out whether they give you these 30 days or not. Right?
