Hi Everyone, I am on a 60 day visa exempt with 30 day extension that runs out next week. I am living in Bangkok and I need to leave the country to get a new stamp.

In the past (10years ago) I went to Poipet, and Savannakhet. I dont know if the service at those locations is as rapid as it used to be.

I have also flown to Laos and stayed overnight for next day visa.

Can you please recommend the most effieicent route for same day or overnight visa renewal service. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on efficient routes for same-day or overnight visa renewals due to an impending expiration of their 60-day visa exemption. Comments suggest avoiding certain crossing points like Poipet, recommending destinations like Ranong for quicker processing. Others mention the potential effectiveness of flying to nearby countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam, or Cambodia due to more relaxed immigration officers. Additionally, the importance of proper visa setups for long stays in Thailand is highlighted.

Just get the cheapest flight in/out of Malaysia, Vietnam or Cambodia. Immigration officers are more relaxed when arriving internationally by air. And try stay for at least a couple days in whatever country you go to - then you should be safe

staying out of the country a little longer and not waiting for the very last day makes you at least look a bit more like a tourist.

maybe not but good advise anyway. Many companies in Bangkok do border / visa runs.

For example

Avoid PoiPet unless on a organised tour /border bounce company bus.

It’s notorious for underhanded ways of making you pay them or just flat right refusing entry. Some horror stories on these forums from there.

If I go with an organized tour, is entry guaranteed, or is it simply more likely than if I travel independently?

If using an organised tour company that uses the PoiPet/Aranyaprathet crossing then you’re pretty certain to be Ok. They know the wheels to be greased.

DIY and you are probably going to have an issue.

There are no guarantees. However a organised tour company generally wouldn’t take you if they thought you would have an issue getting back.

I had a wonderful crossing at Poipet. The bus that dropped me off at the border to meet up with the Thai driver forgot to get an entrance card for the drive home. They did not have any out at the checkpoint. The immigration officer gave me one and even filled it out for me! Very nice and smiling the whole time.

That’s great that you had a good experience. It’s unfortunate that so many others don’t.
