What challenges are Chinese citizens facing when applying for the DTV e-visa from China?

Are there any Chinese citizens that have successfully applied and received their DTV e visa? It is proving to be very difficult to apply from China with the embassy taking your application fee and telling you to apply at another embassy. I am thinking to rather go to Jakarta and apply but it is actually ridiculous I should be able to apply from here. I am applying as a a spouse and my husband is a DTV holder. I have applied at the embassy in Chengdu they did not return my application fee and told me to apply at a different embassy in Kunming.

Just FYI "I'm thinking to" is commonly used by foreigners, but this phrase doesn't actually exist in my language 😔

If you're a Chinese citizen, then logically the best place to apply would be via the e-visa system from China.

logically yeah but doesn’t seem to that the embassies here are cooperating. They also don’t answer phone calls or emails.

Anonymous participant Many Chinese people have successfully got DTV visas here in China. I am Chinese. You make it sound like it’s impossible but many people have already got it. Don’t make false accusations so confidently.

Anonymous participant Yep I know stuff - been involved with China for the last 10 years. If you followed Chinese social media, you would know how hard it is for Chinese to get this Visa, what to speak as a foreigner even with work permit etc. But it seems you know better... good luck mate 🙏

Anonymous participant China doesn't want anyone want to leave the country and they block anyone from getting the DTV Visa. Just go to any SA Asian embassy, or pay an agent there. I would avoid Indonesia, as Muslims try to make it as difficult as possible.

If you are Chinese, you should know better about the authoritarianism of your government. Perhaps you might connect the dots...duhhh?

LOL, considering it's Thai consular officials who decide whether Chinese citizens who apply in China get one or not. Nothing to do with the Chinese government.

Seems some countries are like this. Singapore does not allow its citizens to apply in Singapore for example.
