Hey guys

I want to go to Laos - Vientiane embassy in 10 days +or- to apply for the DTV Visa from there.

Few questions :

Has anyone applied from Vientiane in the last days ?

How was the process for you ?

Which documents did you submit ?

Anything particular that I should know ?

Do I need to book an appointment in advance ?

If anyone did it from there I would love to send you a message if that’s possible for you

Just stressing myself to the max to make sure I’m gonna get it 🙏🏽😅

Thank you !!

TLDR : Answer Summary

I applied last Oct 3. I presented all the required documents but they asked me to log in to my online bank but I cannot receive otp for some reason so they didn't accepted my application.

Sorry to hear that and something to be mindful of for others. FYI if your bank is say UK I know you cannot login even in Thailand through Nationwide and a phone number (unless maybe its a UK number). You have to have a card reader to circumvent it. For some offshore Banks eg Skipton you need the 'Approve' app on your phone and wifi. You can then login to the main website. This works in Thailand so presuming I wont have any problems in Laos. Otherwise all I can suggest is try if your bank app on your phone works. Best of luck

I got a DTV visa in Laos a week ago. The whole process took one week. I booked the time for submitting documents on the embassy's website in advance. After the documents were accepted, I took the visa two working days later. If you are interested in something more specific, you can write me a message and I will answer you)

how did you make the appointment? The phone number on the website does not work for me nor does signing up to the website to book an appointment online. And thank you for sharing your experience to help others 🙏

what if i cannot show my bank application online if i don’t have access to it ? They always ask for proof on the moment ?

Money needs to be sitting in the account for 3 months minimum. Even 1 day less, and Vientiane will refuse your application. They're very strict.

Do you know if money market funds are acceptable in Vientiane?

I doubt it. I'd make sure to move funds to a bank account.

I wouldn't even show up in Vientiane if my funds haven't been sitting for 3 months in a regular bank account. However, if you can prove that you've got more than 500K in another type of account, which have been there for more than 3 months AND subsequently move these funds to a regular bank account, they might process it.

or only bank accounts

Only bank accounts unfortunately. Especially when applying in SE Asia, and particularly in Laos.

I believe all of the DTV will go online between OCT 4th - 8th. I was refused several appointments for a dtv in person as they said it’s all going online.

Anyone confirm?

Also if it’s all online, is it a central authority who issues or does it go to the embassy in the country in which you’re in when you make the online application. Cheers 👍

Not all. Taipei is going to e-visa on November 19th apparently and Laos/Yangon/Jakarta have not yet announced when they'll make the switch, but likely to be November or December. I don't think they'll all transition at once, though you never know.

you go to the country whose consulate you want to apply for the visa at, you log in to the online system select your nationality, the country you're in, the correct consulate, fill out the data required upload the documents, pay then wait for the approval or rejection email from the consulate
