What are the recent requirements for obtaining an OA visa from Dubai, and how can I find a medical facility for the necessary tests?

Hi All

I'm in Dubai and want to apply for a OA visa. I had this visa for 3 years already (about 5 years ago). Now, they want a medical certificate with some strange tests, which costs about 1400USD. This is ridiculous to start with. The problem I encounter is, that it seems that I can't find any hospital doing these tests here and the Consulate is not very helpful either. Is there, by any chance, some here in the group that went through this and could point me in the right direction? That would be great, thanks

Mr. Helfer, So sorry to hear of this hurdle. It does surprise me because at least regarding May 2021 COVID tests and hotel rate ($50 & $25 respectively) I found Dubai prices great value compared to Canada ($173-$200 & $120+ respectively)

If it's that ridiculous don't apply.

good luck in all the requirements for the other visas

Normally the OA visa is only available when applying in your home country or a country where you have legal residence. Now that many have switched to online we’re not quite sure if this will continue to be the case. The requirements for the OA visa are substantial. Especially the insurance requirement for those getting to the 70s or so in age as many insurance companies will either not insure you or charge extortionate prices to do so.

One of the fields is to upload proof of legal residency if applying from a country different from the country of citizenship.

@Fred *****
That would be a visa from the country you are legally resident in to show that you are so.

Correct. The point I was making is the requirements have not changed with the online application.

well for example you could be a UK citizen in Sydney applying for the OA visa. Before you’d have to physically be in the UK to send your passport to them to get the sticker. Now it’s all online. It’s sort of irrelevant where you physically are.

Just get an MD to sign the form.

I have heard one guy say he got medconsult in Bangkok do for him and was accepted

Shouldn't cost too much for a TB patch test, Drug test and Syphilis test. About $50 total is what I paid. The Elephantiasis and Leprosy tests were not possible. The GP I went to simply did a physical exam and signed off on the form.

Michael Dawson. Donna will do them. There's nothing to say the certificate has to come from a doctor in your own country.
