What can I do about getting an education visa when I need a new passport and have a tight timeline?

I am in a bit of a pickle as I intended to get a 6 month education visa for Thai Language next month, but I had to get a new passport so I don't have a passport to submit for documents right now and I have just been told it takes 40-60 days for the school to process your paperwork with the Ministry of Education. I have to leave August 28th for KL as I am currently on a tourist visa. If I have to apply for a tourist visa in KL that covers all but two months of my stay here and that makes the ED not worth the cost. Is there anyway or anywhere to get ED visa paperwork with a two week processing time?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing challenges in obtaining a 6-month education visa for Thai language studies due to a recent passport replacement. They need to leave soon for Kuala Lumpur, and are concerned about the lengthy processing times for the education visa application through their school and the Ministry of Education. Comments suggest options for extending a tourist visa and the necessity of having the correct passport number on the education documentation.

IF you are on a 60 day tourist visa you can get a 30 day extension from the immigration office for 1900baht

The school applies for paperwork from the Ministry of Education and that's what you take to a thai consulate in another country and get the ED visa with.

Unfortunately for you, you needed to get a new passport (which means you CAN'T get the Ministry of Education documentation because you need the passport number ON the paperwork) :/

and that is something you need to talk to the specific school you applied to study at and paid your tuition to.

What did they tell you?

Some schools can "grease the wheels" and get the MOE paperwork faster but you'd have to talk to your school and see what they say.

Most language schools here in Bangkok say it takes between 30 and 45 days to get the paperwork but I have seen it come back in as short as 2 weeks.

That it takes 40 days to request the letter and it cannot be done in a shorter time. I just wanted to check if I had any other options at all with a different ED visa or otherwise.

I figured the 40 days was going to be standard but never hurts to ask. I kind of can't believe I've been in Thailand so often over the years and in this group and have never heard one person mention the 40-60 day waiting period ๐Ÿ˜• If I had applied for the new passport immediately after arriving it would have been almost possible to make it happen.
