TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a Russian passport holder, seeks guidance on performing a visa run to apply for a 2-month visa before transitioning to an educational visa in Thailand. Several comments suggest nearby countries for the visa run, such as Laos and Malaysia, providing tips on necessary documentation and the application process at Thai consulates. The importance of preparing financial proof and ensuring valid onward travel is emphasized, as well as the potential for obtaining an educational visa while remaining in Thailand.

, go to the thai consulate in Penang. Make sure you have proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in a bank account), proof of onward travel in 60-90 days, AND proof of lodging for at least 5 to 7 days and you should have no problem getting a single entry tourist visa from that consulate.

You apply for the visa one morning and you pick up your passport the next afternoon.

As far as getting an ED visa without leaving the country, you need to contact some schools in your area to find out.

AND

as far as how you get to penang and back I'd say google is your friend..

Lets ask
@Amornrat *********
what is the best Thai Consulate for a Russian passport holder to obtain an Ed Visa? The OP states she is on her initial 30 days in Thailand...by bilateral agreement.

Hua Hin, than Penang would be a suitable option.

it all depends on where you go to learn or study. if you did choose a Thai University you can convert the tourist visa into a Non Immigrant ED visa. The University will help you out with the details.

Just to clarify, she's asking about a tourist visa right now, not an Ed visa. Presumably waiting for paperwork.

Try to open Google and find the place where you live, from there a neighbor country closest by and a Thai Consulate in that country. I can advice Vientiane in Laos if you live in up north, or Savannakhet if you live less north but more east, or Yangon if you live north west, or Malaysia if you live in the south. It even could be that there are cheap fligths form the place where you live to Kuala Lumpur, which is normally further away but the cheap pricing makes it more interesting.
