Tod and team another question for the extension please(marriage in my case but I think it applies to all). This is my second one, do I need to provide copies of all pages of the previous bank books as well or only the most recent one is enough (it goes back to Feb 2020)

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a marriage visa extension in Thailand, it is generally sufficient to provide copies of the bank statements covering the last two months to demonstrate that the required funds (400,000 baht) have been held in the account. Although some users have mentioned that they were asked for a bank letter and additional statements, the consensus suggests presenting the minimum necessary documentation, with emphasis that the older bank book is not typically required. It's advised to keep old bank books available but only submit the most pertinent information unless requested.

I just wanted to confirm.... for an extension of stay based on marriage at CW office. Do we also need to get the letter from a bank? Or we only need a bankbook and the copies showing the balance for 2 months.

Did an ext of marriage visa today had to have letter from bank showing balance that must be the same as bank book and for the first time (for me) a statement of my account which went back numerous months. I have an under consideration stamp and need to return on the 19th Feb

Just curious
@I**
what office did you use? As a rule the bank letter, and the bank book don't need to match, and that's because some banks make you do a transaction to get the book to update (Bangkok bank doesn't and you can just put the book in the updater and it'll print the balance)

I’ve been here getting visa and ext for 16 years my imm office was NaN and they insisted that the bank letter and bank book agreed now there’s an imm office in Phrae which when asked they said the same but added the bank book should be updated the day of application. NaN also wanted a health check letter which Phrae doesn’t ask for. I’ve found the differences between offices amazing. Also it was Bkk bank that told me I need a statement as letter now which was correct

All went well. Bank book was required but they were more interested in the statement

Okay, people STAY ON TOPIC.

The O/P is not asking about getting an extension based on raising half thai kids, OR retirement,

they are asking about getting a yearly extension based on marriage to a thai national using banked money method.

A bank book that goes back to FEB last year should be more than enough (and honestly all I'd copy would be the front data page AND the pages going back 2 months to show the funds had been there the required time.

I would have the other pages copied but not give them to the officer unless they asked for it. (But again that's just me. I provide the bare minimum required documents)

@Alex ****
has me last year have asked the last 6 months!

@El***
and you were using banked money method to get a yearly extension based on marriage to a thai national? I ask that question because your profile shows you as a "her" and foreign women have no financial requirements to get yearly extensions based on marriage to thai men :)

@Tod ********
my case annual extension based on children, copies of the last 6 months of the bank book are requested on the list of documents required for the annual extension. I don't know if it is the same for marriage, and it can also depend on immigration to immigration

Wow,
@El***
that's totally strange because believe it or not there is NO seasoning required on the 400K baht funds needed to get a year extension based on raising half thai children (the rule about that extension doesn't specify any time the money needs to be in your account) :/

Thanx though,

I have the list, but it's written in Thai. At the limit of the place. I am a father, clearly the profile and photos are dedicated to my daughter who was born and raised in Thai. They asked me for 400,000 baht for at least 2 months, plus copies of the pages of the bank book from the last 6 months. In addition to a letter from the bank with the balance amount.

Sorry
@El***
didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to the profile other than to see if it said "she or he" when I clicked it.

Your immigration office is taking the piss. There is NO official seasoning of funds for getting year extensions based on raising half thai children, AND there is no need to show 6 months of banking history either.

That is not written into the police order and I believe if you'd have stood up to them they would have backed down.

BUT

Sadly your experience has nothing in common with the O/P applying for a yearly extension based on marriage to a thai.

Thanx, take care stay safe.

Right, it has nothing to do with the marriage request. And you're right I could be fussy. I went to look at the list and in fact the maturation of the money for 6 months they added them in pen, next to the 400,000 to be demonstrated. Thanks cumenque, if next time I will be asked, they paid attention and I will ask for explanations.

I think it is just a check to see if one uses agencies for proof of funds!

There is no requirement to show a year worth of balance history unless you're using monthly income by overseas transfers (when you'd have to show 40K baht a month coming into the account) IF you are using the 400K baht banked money method you only need to show the money was in the account for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

Personally I'd take the old bank book with me (but not copy any pages or even let immigrations know you have it with you unless they ask) :P BUT that's just me ;)
