What are the visa options and requirements for Canadians entering Thailand from Laos?

Hi, I'm asking this because I can't seem to reach the English pages on the website of the Thai embassy in Vientiane. I goofed and assumed that I could walk back over the bridge to Thailand and get a 30 day exemption as at the airports (I'm Canadian). It seems from Google I can't. So I guess I need to visit the Vientiane embassy on Monday. Does the 60-day tourist visa take two days to process like the non B? Any documentation expected aside from passport and photo and some proof of funds? Can a visa be bought on arrival at a Thai land crossing? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user mistakenly believed they could obtain a 30-day visa exemption by crossing the bridge from Laos to Thailand. They plan to visit the Thai embassy in Vientiane for a 60-day tourist visa and inquire about documents needed and processing time. The conversation clarifies that Canadians can obtain a 30-day visa exemption by doing a border run, but also provides detailed requirements for a 60-day tourist visa, including necessary documentation and the application process.

I did the visa exempt just now. That takes me to two for 2018 so I guess on Jan 1st the clock resets? PS I had to get back to Thailand urgently and didn't want to wait till Tuesday for an embassy visa.

As long as you're there why not get a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate? I mean you're IN Lao already.

OR

You could just go to the friendship bridge, stamp out of lao, take the bus across the bridge (you CAN'T walk) and stamp into thailand on a 30 day visa exempt entry <- as long as you don't have TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land this year that is ;)

It is free, but not the visa to visit Laos, even for the short time to do a border run.

One more dumb question - the visa exempt option doesn't carry a fee does it?

I prefer to do the 30 day exempt option at the bridge. You're certain that's available at land crossings too (but OMG why would I doubt you?)

And you apply in Vientiane in the morning before 11:30 and pick up next working day in the afternoon.

Thanks, if you make a border run, which you can do twice a calendar year you get 30 day Visa Exempt Entry and this can be extended once with 30 days at your local Immigration Office. If you want to stay longer you can buy a Tourist Visa at a Thai Consulate, as you suggest Vientiane, this visa will give you 60 days of stay and can also be extended with another 30 days. For this visa you need copy of your passport, id page and Laos visa page, 3 passport pictures, validity of minimum 6 months of the passport, 1.000 Thb and the application form you can pick up while waiting in the queu.

There is a Visa Exempt Entry for 30 days, but only for 54 countries, a Visa on Arrival for 15 days for 21 countries, and some other regulations to enter Thailand without a Visa. All depending on the country of origin of your passport, and that is .....?
