The conversation revolves around uncertainty regarding potential new immigration requirements in Thailand, specifically related to a notice received from a language school. Many commenters express skepticism about the authenticity of the notice and share personal experiences regarding passport checks, particularly during the COVID-19 era. Some consider the possibility that the notice could be a scam or misleading information.

Thanks for the replies. Notice came from my language school. I thought it was weird since there was nothing previously online.

We had a random passport check by military on the way to Pai.
Need more info on the picture to know if they’re related incidents.
It wasn’t really random. They have had road police checks in that part of the country for years

Unless you can show an actual post from immigration rather than simply a photo, this means nothing. Any 12 year old could make this image to scare foreigners and slap in a QR code that takes you to a Google form that just harvests information.
I don't even see a date on this, so it could have been during covid restrictions but who knows if it's even real.

In their dreams maybe. Watch me travel to another province without it. 😅 But seriously, the only scenario I could think of where this would make sense and would be appreciated is while being under consideration. Cause so far one would have to return to the original immigration office in that case - which is highly inconvenient.
