A number of groups representing tourism operators in the south and east of the country, as well as the Thai Hotels Association, are calling for all entry restrictions to be lifted from next month. The Bangkok Post reports that the groups have written an open letter to PM Prayut Chan-o-cha and other government officials, calling for the country to be fully re-opened to foreign visitors from March. TLDR : Answer Summary
Tourism operators in southern and eastern Thailand, along with the Thai Hotels Association, are urging Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to lift all entry restrictions, including the Thailand Pass and PCR testing, to fully reopen the country to foreign visitors by March. They argue that these restrictions hinder tourism recovery and that several other countries have already relaxed their entry requirements. The ongoing situation has prompted mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing skepticism about the government's responsiveness.

The second RT-PCR test required by the Test & Go scheme should be scrapped by March if the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) agrees with the proposal, according to the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said on Friday that the ministry and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will propose a relaxation of entry requirements by replacing the second RT-PCR test with an antigen test kit, making the request at the next CCSA meeting on Feb 23.

If the proposal is approved, the new rule will be applied from next month, he said.

I talked with several people that said they wont be coming to Thailand because of the Thaipass system. I am certainly considering alternatives.

It is not longer covid that prevents the tourist industry from rebound.

+$300 PCR tests, $200 Insurance (I think its a scam), +300 fly through phuket, +$700 hotel+transportation (sandbox) => $1500 extra to come to Thailand. In addition traveler has to get ThaiPass approval, which means they risk the total cost of the trip ($3,000-$4,000). It is no surprise people are not in a hurry to come here.

More likely to go the other way

Border testing stops covid from getting into Thailand, disregard the 17,000 new cases in Thailand yesterday, that's a different not as potent covid.

Why bold highlight the number of cases to scare people. Should focus on the % of hospitalised sick cases. Learn from Singapore that had stopped highlighting the number of cases, ditched quarantine and PCR test (need ART only) for vaccinated travellers. Make it simple not stressful process.

Courage is required, at this time.

The Thai Hotels Association have been asking for this for the last year without success. I read that Tony Fernandes is meeting directly with the PM to suggest dropping Day 5 testing. Perhaps Fernandes might carry more weight

They might get around to it in 2023
