Hello to all,

It is time for my annual marriage extension renewal. I am eligible to apply on May 17. I am aware that there is a one month “ under consideration” stamp while the paperwork goes to Bangkok. My US passport expires on June 11 of 2023. My question is this, will immigration grant me the extension if I apply in May and my passport expires in June of next year?

Many thanks, Evan🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the implications of their US passport expiration on their marriage visa extension application in Thailand. They plan to apply for the extension on May 17, but their passport expires on June 11 of the following year. Community members clarify that while applying for the extension is possible, the visa extension duration will not exceed the passport's validity period.

Okay let's forget the "I'm eligible to apply" part and instead just go with the date your current extension expires (because that's when your new extension will start from)

IF you apply for a yearly extension but your passport isn't valid the full year you get an extension only until your passport expires.

And as people pointed out that "under consideration" stamp is actually the first month of the year extension you just applied for. 🙂

Thank you for your responses👍

The under consideration period is part of your extension so you should get the full year out of it

It would be no problem. But, You will be stamped until the earlier date: after one year later (new 1-year extension) or your passport validity.
