Hi,

I need information regarding applying for re-entry permit at the Suvarnabhumi airport. I am a student in Thailand who wants to go back home to Myanmar at July 1st (Monday) but couldn't apply for re-entry in advance before hitting the weekends. My flight boards around 10AM and yes I have an extended student visa.

What are the steps I need to take, what do I need and are there any concerns or precautions I could take applying re-entry right at the airport.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport, you can purchase it 24/7 for 1000 baht, with an optional 200 baht service fee for assistance. The permit can be obtained in "Departure 2" without the need for passport photos or pre-filled forms. It's advisable to fill out the re-entry form in advance (available on the Thai immigration website) and bring your own photo to expedite the process, especially if there are long lines. Additionally, if your school is not in session during your absence, obtaining a letter from your institution approving your travel plans can help mitigate potential immigration issues upon your return. Plan to arrive early at the airport to allow sufficient time for the application.

It will be faster if you print and fill out the re entry form (can be downloaded from thai immigration website) and bring your own photo . Than let them do it for you. Especially if there are many people in line for the re entry.

You will save a few hundred baht and it will only take a few minutes when you can hand them everything they need right away than fill it out there and have your photo taken there. This is good especially if you are running out of time.

But I recommend you really go to the airport early.

, it took me about 15 minutes last time at Suvarnabhumi even I was only one to apply for re-entry permit at that time (no applicant there before or after me). I had everything (filled form, photo), pay official fee only, the officer even didn't mention service fee.

Just to mention that if your school is not on holiday while you are out of Thailand immigration can be difficult on your return. It may help to get a letter from your school saying they are aware of and have approved your travel plans

you can buy the re-entry permit in the area of "Departure 2" at the BKK airport. Have 1200.- THB ready and you don't need to bring passport pictures and readily filled out forms

at 1000 baht. If you pay 200 baht service fee they’ll prepare everything for you.
