I have retirement visa and this time I did not renew my β€œexit/reentry β€œ part because I was told that it can easily be done at the airport. Now I’m about to travel out and return in a few months - please can you tell me WHERE in suvarnabhmui bkk I apply and pay for this (at immigration desk with the officer, or before?) and if this service is open 24 hrs - I fly out at midnight

Thank you for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The exit/re-entry permit can be applied for at the Suvarnabhumi Airport before your international flight. The re-entry counter is located in International Departure #2 and is open 24/7. It's recommended to allow extra time for the process, as there may only be one booth operating and it can take up to 30 minutes. Additionally, you can also apply for this permit at a Thailand Embassy before your flight.

At suvarnabhumi there is an office before the immigration exit stamp, but there is a set of desks without it. Just ask, before they stamp your passport.

You can do it after passport control as well. Same place.

fwiw, i did this many times and I found it much easier and less hassle than doing it at immigration inside the country

Can also buy at Thailand Embassy before flight out, am I right?

@柳**
, there is no Thailand Embassy inside Thailand. And you cannot get a re-entry permit at the Thai Embassy. You may be able to apply for one at the local immigration office in your province.

@Ellie ******
, what I mean I already have retirement visa with multiple entry, before I leave Thailand, can I go embassy in Thailand to apply the re enter permission, or til I reach airport before I flight out?
Ellie *******
@柳**
, There is nothing to do at the Thai embassy in another country to re-enter Thailand if you have a valid one of these, if you have:

- a multiple entry visa based on retirement (from embassy/consulate)

- Or 1-year extension based on being over 50 with multiple re-entry permit (from the local immigration office inside Thailand)

If you are on an extension but don't have re-entry permit, you have to apply for re-entry permit BEFORE you leave Thailand.

There is no Thailand Embassy in Thailand. You either buy the re-entry stamp at the airport or at a local immigration office.

Follow the sign. Going through Gate 2 is the easiest.

Account for extra time for the process, there is only one booth for this and sometimes can take up to 30 minutes (talking from experience)

The re-entry counter is open
****
and it is in International Departure #2.

worth stressing the "2" as going through "1" means you need to enter the departure area and walk back in ( and spot the wee cupboard the pleasant 2 officers sit)

is it not single entry allowed 1 trip out and back ?

@Jim **********
visas & extensions gotten inside thailand don't come with a re-entry because you're already here in the country, you buy those after you get your visa/extension

OK thanks I'm on multi now but extending visa next week wasn't gona bother multi thought 1 allowed. Appreciate answer βœ…

@Jim **********
you buy a re-entry permit after you get your extension as either a single or a multiple re-entry (single 1000baht, multiple 3800baht)

I usually advise people to just get a single when you get your extension as then you have it and don't have to worry if you have to fly out unexpectedly
