Does anyone have recent experience with getting a re-entry permit at BKK Airport? Are they still open 24hours?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent experiences indicate that you can obtain a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport, and it remains open 24/7, especially during international flights. The permit costs 1,200 THB at the airport, which includes assistance with paperwork and photo taking. However, it's advisable to secure your re-entry permit at a local immigration office beforehand to avoid any delays, as once you pass through immigration at the airport, you cannot acquire a re-entry permit.

I'm shutting down this post:
1. A single entry re-entry permit is 1,000 THB at a local immigration office, OR 1,200 THB at the airport (since they fill out the paperwork for you and take your picture).
2. You can get this re-entry permit at ANY immigration office.
3. The length the re-entry permit is valid for is for your current extension of stay.
4. Only Suvarnabhumi has the re-entry permit desk open

. Depending on how you're flying out, it MAY NOT be possible to go from Chiang Mai International to Suvarnabhumi's re-entry permit desk. ONCE you cross immigration and stamp out of Thailand, you CAN NOT get a re-entry permit.
5. We do not mention or discuss agencies in the group.
Thank you

It is a good idea to have your re-entry permit before you go to the airport.
Not long ago I had to leave Thailand suddenly on business and did not have a re-entry permit on a new retirement visa. I was delayed in traffic and the desk was open but the attendant was not present. After a few anxious minutes someone showed up, took care of it and I did not miss my flight.
Lesson learned

at Suvarnabhumi (or at least when they have international flights departing) It's in International Departure 2 and you get to it after you go thru security screening. Tell them you need a re-entry permit and they'll get someone to man the desk if no one is there
