Is a Re-Entry Permit Worth It After a 30-Day Extension in Thailand?

If I just did my border run 3 days ago(2nd one of the year) and I go to the immigration office in Bangkok and get my 30 day extension - then get a re-entry permit at the airport before flying out before Christmas:

1. Is my entry on my return guaranteed for the period of the re-entry permit? Or, is the same risk as entering on another visa exempt(been in BKK for a while on the same).

2. Am I just wasting paying for the extension + the re-entry permit as I could get denied when I fly back in even though I have a re-entry permit?

Thanks again to everyone in this group.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarity on whether obtaining a 30-day extension and a re-entry permit will guarantee their entry back into Thailand after traveling abroad. They express concern about potentially wasting money on these permits if there's a risk of denial upon re-entry, particularly since they have used visa-exempt entries previously.

And I miss the point? Buying a Re-Entry Permit to save a few days of a free Visa Exempt Entry. On return you get a new free 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, no need to invest into a Re-Entry Permit. As I mentioned 39 million tourist have no problems at all. If you like to play around with all kinds of entries and Re-Entry Permits to live your life inside Thailand, there will be a day that the immigration officer says, now is enough. Get a plan B. Good luck.

It all depends on your history of living inside Thailand. Even when you post your complete history, the decision is made by the Immigration Officer to whom you hand over your passport. we cannot guarantee that the advice given will be 100 % successful to obtain the visa, extension of stay or entrance into Thailand.

You’re missing my point. What use is the re-entry permit if it doesn’t guarantee entry?
Robert *******
Why would you be denied entry?

Why buy a re-entry permit on a Visa Exempt Entry ? If you fly back into Thailand you get a new 30 day Visa Exempt Entry for free

Robert Lagas what good is the re-entry permit then?

I have 27 days left on my Visa exempt entry. If I get an extension on that - it’s +30. So a total of 57.

If got a re-entry permit at the airport and flew out - how does the re-entry permit help at all when I fly back?

Isn’t it supposed to allow me in minus the number of days I spend outside?

not understand the questions. Out of reports there are over 39 million tourist arriving each year without any questions or problems, get the stamp while the officer smiles and says welcome in Thailand. There are a handful of people who use this Visa Exempt Entry or Tourist visa to live their life inside Thailand, knowing that this visa does not suits that purpose of long stay. If you are worried and having so much concerns about travel to Thailand, it become time to get the visa that suits your long time stay.

My question is:

If I fly out of the country with a re-entry permit (on a visa exempt entry plus extension). When I return in a week am I guaranteed entry because I have a re-entry permit?
