Hi - I have a couple questions regarding my Destination Thailand Visa as my US passport is expiring in January 2026.
-Is my understanding correct that I will need to show my new passport along with the old passport (or copy of old passport) that the DTV was approved for? Is there a way to transfer the DTV to the new passport?
-When entering Thailand with the DTV, will they reject entry if my old passport has less than 6 months remaining (Iโm working on renewing my passport, but unsure how long it will take)?
Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice regarding their Destination Thailand Visa in light of their US passport expiring in January 2026. They want to know if they need to present both their new and old passports when traveling and if it's possible to transfer the visa to the new passport. The user is also concerned about entry rejection if their old passport has less than six months remaining validity. Responses indicate that a new passport should be obtained promptly and that one must have at least six months of passport validity for entry into Thailand, regardless of visa status.
You need to have the time left on the passport that you will get stamped in for. SO that means on a DTV you need a minimum of 6 months left on your passport (or you're not gonna get in to thailand whether you have a DTV or not)
Get after getting that passport renewed well before you get down to 6 months or less. OR make sure you bounce out/back just before you hit the 6 month validity on your passport so you have 180 days to get a new one
US passports renewed by mail inside thailand are taking about 40-50 days to get delivered to you. So go to the ACS (American Citizen Services) website of the US Embassy and they have all the info on renewing a passport inside thailand by mail and how it's done

And do you have an eVisa <- that you got from a thai consulate applying online where they emailed you a PDF file that is your visa
OR
Do you have a "sticker visa" that you got by going to a thai consulate and applying in person, giving them your passport and then picking it back up with the DTV stuck into it?
