Hello, I am starting my research into the DTV visa and would like to ask a few questions, and hopefully getting some answers from people who have already been through with my circumstances.

I'm from the UK and am director of one business and Co director of another.

First company is myself as an Outside IR35 data analyst contractor. I have finished working as a contractor, I may find another contract but at the moment income will have ended in July 2026 

Second company (50% director) I co own a rental property with regular income around £3000 a month

I have enough funds in one account for the 500000THB plus a further large portfolio of savings and investments which I can show proof of.

I have been told that I do not need to show income from my business, as long as I own the business, I am not sure if this is correct or not?

Would I fit the criteria for the DTV?

I was asked for my business registration, bank statements showing income, 2 years tax returns and a letter from my business saying I could work remotely and wouldn’t be working with Thai clients, this was in London

I applied with the London embassy as a landlord with no other income and was accepted. To prove the ability to work remotely, I asked my letting agent to write a letter saying that they were happy to work with me remotely from abroad. That along with 3 months rent statements from the agent and 3 months bank statements was enough for the income side of things. This was last November so things may have changed but I think you'll be okay

Just remembered, I also uploaded last 2 years tax documents; tax return, tax calculation and tax year overview

Workcation is remote work, it needs to be as straightforward as possible, if that's not possible better to do the softskills route

You will be fine. I know people who got DTV in London through rental properties as Director of the Ltd company managing them remotely.

As Andi said you shoukd still apply. The UK Embassy is more forgiving than others if you explain. They know how things work in the UK. Good luck

would this still be the same if the money never leaves the business? As in, I don't actually pay myself from the business? I can pay myself if needed, but I usually just leave it there as I don't need it

You can still get the DTV via agent mgmt. I know similar approved in the UK they detailed how they interact online with the agent, receive rental payment online from the agent., involved with the selection of tenants online, receive repair notices online, rental extensions done online etc..

Owning a company is not enough, you need to show that you work remotely. If you're a self employed contractor you can show contracts, income from the contracts, tax returns etc. If you manage the properties in the 2nd company you could alternatively use that but if you don't you can't

thank you. Does the contract need to be within the last 3 months? For example if I apply in Feb next year, my last contract will have ended 7 months prior, will this be good enough? I can also provide prior years tax returns and P60 from a year where I was inside IR35

you need to show that you currently work remotely, not in some dark and distant past
