TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Non-O visa for family visits and is seeking information on extending it, specifically whether funds must be kept in a Thai bank for 90 days to qualify for a one-year extension. Community responses clarify that for a one-year extension, the funds must be deposited in a Thai bank account for at least two to three months before applying, and that there are alternatives such as a 60-day extension for family visits without requiring proof of funds. They also mention the option of obtaining a new one-year multi-entry visa in Savannakhet, Laos, without needing to show financial proof.

and I think that
@Ph**
now understands that his visa is VALID until the 14th of November <- meaning he has until then to ENTER thailand when he will be stamped in for 90 days.

So to re-cap

IF he is using 400K baht banked money as the method to meet the proof of funds to get an in country yearly extension of stay that money needs to be in a thai bank account in his name only for 2 months before he applies for the yearly extension.

IF he can't or doesn't want to get a yearly extension he can get a 60 day extension based on visiting thai family for 1900baht at the immigration office without the proof of funds.

AND

It think he also understands that once this current Non-O runs out he can go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet and get a NEW year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage with NO proof of funds at all.

That's about it. Decide what you're going to do, get here and work on meeting the requirements for the course of action you select.

Good Luck (y)

how about his going to Savannakhet and get one year Non O... Married to Thai ..with NO money required in a Thai bank? You are most knowledgeable of that visa.

@Robert ******
thank you. This is another option for the OP to consider with NO MONEY REQUIRED IN A THAI BANK. Phil Collins ...here is another option for you... A Non O Multiple Entry One Year visa as being married to a Thai. Obtained in Savannakhet Laos

The 1 year Extension of Stay means 1 year inside Thailand and nothing to bother about other than 3 times a 5 minute 90 day report on line. Or at least 1 night Savannakhet for a new visa, than every 90 days trips to the border, exit entry and come back, with all the stamps and Laos visa inside your passport.

Put in the money in a thai bank as soon as possible. If you are married to a thai, then the requirement is two month in a thai bank, but several immigration want three month.

When it is 30 days left of your admitted to stay stamp you get at the airport here, you put in an application for an extension of stay.

Phil Collins remember that the date you have on your Visa is only the between dates you are allowed to enter Thailand. When you enter Thailand on the airport you will have 90 days of stay stamped, even if you come on the last date on your Visa.

Remember to bring with you your marriage certificate.

If you do your TM30 ask directly for the hand out with requirements of the Extension of Stay, saves you one visit. And i will say it on a low voice; look at the picture it is a non immigrant o visa based on marriage. It is still available as you just have a new one.

The only option with this visa is than to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay if you can meet all the requirements OR a 60 day Extension of Stay if you have a Thai wife or half Thai children.
Robert *******
no, you do not need a return ticket as you have a valid visa inside your passport.

Than you need some copies of passports, id cards, house book, map to the house but most of all the financial requirements is a minimum of 400.000 Thb 2 months prior the application date on a Thai bank in your name OR 12 months prior the application date, a minimum of 40.000 Thb of foreign deposits into a Thai bank in your name, than some documents from the bank and you are okay to apply for 1 year Extension of Stay. For the exact list of needed copies, please visit the Immigration for the hand out as not every office has the same requirements.
