Hello, I’m currently in Thailand on a ninety day Non-O based on having a half Thai child. I’m not married to my son’s father. My ninety days are up on the 4th February. We are located in Koh Tao which does now have an immigration office but I can’t get a clear answer from them on if they do the 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family, in which case my next option would be to go to Samui. Firstly, Would I be eligible for the 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family? Secondly, when I go to do a new Non-O do I have to show proof of funds if I go to Savannakhet in Laos? Thank you in advance. (As I side note I’m planning to do the year extension but I’m having trouble opening a Thai Bank account).
TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking confirmation on their eligibility for a 60-day visa extension to visit Thai family, based on their existing Non-O visa due to having a Thai child. They are currently in Koh Tao but are unsure if the local immigration office can process this extension and are considering traveling to Samui for it. Additionally, they ask about the necessity of proving funds when applying for a new Non-O visa in Savannakhet, Laos. Responses confirm that they qualify for the extension with proper documentation and that proof of funds is not required for the new Non-O visa application.
