What are the requirements for extending a 30-day tourist visa in Bangkok, and is a flight booked on the last day acceptable?

Hi! What do I need to extend my tourist visa in Bangkok? I have a 30 day tourist visa, and I want to extend for another 30 days. I hear that I need a passport photo and copies of my passport ID and of course proof of onwards travel. Also, I hear that I need proof of where I am staying. What do they need to see for this, or do I just fill out a form with my address on it?

Also, if they are extending from May 31st for 30 days is a flight to Cambodia on June 29th within the 30 days, or should I book a flight a few days earlier? I feel like that flight is on the very last day, and I'm not sure that's allowed.

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a 30-day visa exempt period in Bangkok, you'll generally need a passport-sized photo, copies of your passport ID page, and potentially proof of your accommodation (TM30 form), although some offices may not require proof of onward travel. If you plan to fly to Cambodia on June 29th, that would technically be within the 30-day period if your extension starts on May 31st, but it may be safer to book your flight a few days earlier to avoid any potential issues.

First of all, you do not have a tourist visa. A tourist visa is something you apply for and pay for before traveling to Thailand.

If you received 30 days then you have visa exempt which is not a visa at all.

You would go to IT Square Laksi in order to apply for a 30 day extension if you entered using visa exempt.

Proof of onward travel is not required. You might or might not have to show proof of a TM30 which is required to be filed by the owner of where you're staying. If you're staying at a hotel then they most likely did it for you and you can ask for proof of TM30.

Attached is a list of the most common requirements but each office has their own requirements.

wherever you are staying should have filed it. Ask them

the property owner files it online. But many times if you're staying at an Airbnb or something like this they refuse to do it because they don't want the government to know they are renting the property. You can ask the owner and see what they say. If they refuse you can try applying for extension without it. But if you're denied you'll need to find a way to get one. Often people will find a very cheap hotel room and check in (not even staying there for the night) and ask for the TM30 and then go to immigration.

Hi, how long does the check-in for the hotel need to be? Does the stay need to cover the rest of the days I'm allowed to be in Thailand?

1 day is enough to get a TM30. If there's any questions just say you're leaving Bangkok and extending before you go
