Want to stay in Thailand for 4/5 months from November.

I will apply for a METV for my stay.

Are Emirates within their rights to ask for for the return ticket which i will purchase when booking my flight or would i need a ticket out of Thailand after 60 or 90 days?
Answer summary
The original poster wants to stay in Thailand for 4-5 months using a METV and is uncertain about Emirates' ticket requirements. Respondents clarify that showing proof of onward travel, such as a return ticket or an exit flight booked for either 60 or 90 days later, is necessary. Several users suggest that the ticket doesn't need to be expensive, and that a cheap or refundable ticket could suffice for both airline check-in and Thai immigration procedures. Many also note that some flexibility exists regarding ticket requirements, as the METV is a multiple-entry visa allowing various travel options.

Why don't you get a 90 day non O visa for £60 then a 30 day extension for 1900 but this would give you 4 months without leaving the country ,you would then leave and return on a 30 exemption to give you 5 months

Just buy a cheap throw away air ticket or buy a fully refundable air ticket bus/train tickets will not be accepted of course at check they might not even care, just down to the person at check in and their mood

I have shown the airline check-in desk my visa which is long term, they were ok with that. If you get turned around at BKK immigration it is the airlines problem, that's why they sometimes check.

Even with a METV, you are limited to 60 days per stay. You need an onward ticket within those 60 days.

for any Thai METV E–Visa Application, include a travel itinerary that includes multiple entries into Thailand, otherwise a Single Entry Tourist E–Visa (SETV) could possibly be issued instead and the difference in Thai E–Visa Fees between the £150 Pounds vs. £30 Pounds will not be refunded

Dca Dca just write exit by land every 2 month, no problem at all you don't need any flights just a 1 way flight to Thailand

You'll need onward travel within 60 days to board your flight

Siggi Tirak Yes. The METV gets you stamped in for 60 days, Emirates will require onward travel within 60 days and so will Thai Immigration if you're asked by the Immigration Officer

Doesnt have to be a return flight. Just book a cheap bus from Nong Khai to Vientiane.

You're going to have to show a ticket out of Thailand and a ticket back to Thailand anyway to justify the METV

@John ********
nope, its a multiple entry tourist visa. You need to show why you need multiple entries

John Doughty just flew home after 6 months in Thailand. Only had to show entry flight and exit flight. Did not need to show exit after 60 days, one trip to Laos and one to NZ. No issues at all.

Paul Thomas applications for METV require that you show you have more than 1 booked flight in and out of Thailand to show why you need a multiple entry visa. It doesn't have to be a return ticket to your country of origin. It can be a round-trip ticket to Malaysia, for example.

Paul Thomas wrong, you have to justify a METV with an arrival flight, exit flight and re-entry flight

They might ask for proof of onward travel i.e. a ticket to an international destination leaving Thailand before your original permitted to stay period is up

A flight from the Uk and then a flight leaving Thailand after 60 and a return back to Thailand?

John Doughty I fly from Scotland Glasgow to Bangkok with Emirates. Always buying a cheap ticket from Bangkok to Saigon . Emirates in the airport are always asking to show them this ticket.

Graham Seal "you have to justify a METV with an arrival flight, exit flight and re-entry flight" . . . . . . . . . . .😶😶 . . . . . But you can only enter TWO dates into the e-visa application: the flight to Thailand and the intended return date. HOW would you upload and show a third flight ?
Graham ******
Graham ******
Greg Alexander you upload tickets
Greg ***********
Greg ***********
Graham Seal do you really need already booked tickets? The E-Visa System is asking for "intended date of travel" and "intended date of departure", together with respective flight numbers. It is not asking for confirmed tickets

John Doughty You can apply for a 30 days extention, extensions of stay are issued at the discretion of the Immigration Office, they're not a given

OP
Graham Seal Although you can extend for another 30?

As long as you show itinerary of return flight should not be an issue. Some airlines now do ask for it.
