TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is traveling to Thailand on a one-way ticket and inquires about the possibility of extending their Visa on Arrival without leaving the country. Comments indicate that while you can extend your stay for an additional 30 days once in Thailand, it is advisable to have proof of onward travel to avoid issues during check-in at the airline, as many carriers require it. Some commenters suggest obtaining a single-entry tourist visa in advance for a more extended stay and a smoother entry process.

My 85 year old mother was almost refused a boarding pass in Washington DC because her return ticket was AFTER 30 days , coming on a 30 day no visa stamp . It was only that she got in touch with me in Thailand letting them know of the flight to Hanoi on Bangkok Airways leaving before the 30 days was up that Cathy Pacific allowed her to board FYI

First off I'd say IF you intend to be here longer than 30 days (the amount of time a visa exempt entry gets you stamped in for) you should at least BUY a single entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here.

That would stamp you in for 60 days and you could apply for a 30 day extension for 1900baht at the immigration office once you're here.

That does a couple things, FIRST it means you won't have a problem checking in with the air carrier bringing you here because you'll have a valid visa in your passport when you check in. (meaning you won't need to show them proof of onward travel). AND secondly you will get almost 90 days here without having to leave the country.

Good Luck, (y)

as a rule that is correct BUT it's totally up to the airline you fly here on.

so I only need to show my onward travel ticket if have visa of exemption, not if have NON-O 90 day Visa (german passport)

You might get a trouble at check-in to airline if you are attempt to entry Thailand on visa exempt scheme (without visa) without proof onward travel ticket with in allowed period. Many airline checks visa or onward travel at checking in. Some requires “return” travel. Better to check with your airline too.

I use bus tickets as proof of 'onward travel' $20 US, can be purchased online. In the US a person may have issues boarding a planing if they do not have 'onward travel' Its a the discretion of the airline. I think it is like that many (every?) place.

In your case I would travel with the necessary proofs (accommodation, funds, onward travel), because A) - why not? B) it simply makes you less likely to have a hassle. You can extend 30 days once you are here.

I removed a reference to VOA, as Spanish the OP is entitled to visa exempt or visa waiver and will get 30 days, however as a newcomer Thai Immigration, in most cases, will not ask for the 3 proofs. But I am sure that the airline check in staff will ask you to show an onward travel ticket.

Pati Pérez then you should get 30 days on arrival ...can be extended 30 days at local Thai Immigration office for 1,900 Thai baht. Check with your airline...ask if they will allow you to fly with only a ONE WAY ticket and NO visa.
