What are the requirements for a proper visa photo when submitting a DTV application in Thailand?

I submitted my DTV application and they asked for additional information - the reason, you need to submit "Your recent proper photo for visa".

My question - I literally submitted the same photo I used to renew my passport just one month ago. What am I missing/did I miss on the "recent proper photos for visa" requirement. It seems I am the first person to get the rejection. Nothing found in the search on this group. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the requirements for submitting a recent photo for their DTV visa application after receiving a request for additional information. Despite submitting a recent photo used for their passport renewal, they are confused about the specific requirements for a visa photo, especially since the application was seemingly rejected. Comments highlight various aspects such as photo size, background color, and the need for a different photo from the passport picture.

sounds like your not rejected from your application they just want another photo

Can't you just take a selfie 🤳 with a white wall as background? Small problem, easy solution. (I did that for my application and it went smoothly)

just provide a new picture according to guidelines. i guess the embassy thaught your picture might be older as its the same on the passport.

If it was requested and not rejected why are you on here asking about it. Daft

Anonymous participant 531 Not silly. Michael is warning others. Another embassy (or person processing) might reject a similar application without requesting a different photo. As we all know, they might (or might not) state their reason for rejection.

Scandalous. They easily could have asked for a new photo. 💸

A. Nony - Yes, they did. I should not have said the application was rejected. They just asked for a new photo.

don't wear the same shirt, don't smile, have a white background and good light, hit the screen before taking photo to focus and turn it into a jpeg and upload a new one to the website

Photo same photo for your passport = rejected.

Can't be same photo same the passport photo.

Need to be different. You would have even edit it by photo shop change dresss.

For 120 THB you lost over 10,000 THB just because you don't consider this details

I submitted the exact same photo as on the passport bio page, and mine was accepted. So it seems to be embassy specific, but not a general rule.
AllSabaai ******
RalphOnTour being lucky doesn't set that as rules ka. It is same as someone left the country before visa approved then his visa get approved while he is not in the country where embassy is located 🙏

At the most... the embassies will reject the visa photo if it is same as passport photo and that happen before too

you state “rejection” in your post, so people assume you were rejected

Do as you’re told

🤣

Does your passport’s issued date correspond with the matching photo you submitted? Is it really within a month or two? It is possible the immigration staff barely checked and rejected your application. Unfortunately once rejected there is no way to reinstate your application. You have to start over and pay a new fee.

Interesting. My studio photo was deemed unacceptable. Too much noise and not focused, so I was informed. I was given an opportunity to submit another, fortunately.

Which embassy, was size, background color, placement, no smile, and no glasses, used?
Andi ***********
Not just recent but proper visa photo. Did you submit the correct size ?
Dany ********
@Andi **********
for evisa application you can just take a selfie with your smartphone. just make sure to follow the picture guide on how it needs to look. i guess in OPs case its just a mistake by the embassy as they imagine the picture is older

@Dany *******
Yeah selfies work

Thailand has a different photo size than other countries passport size. Double check.
Andi ***********
@Bang ****
That came from the Thai Embassy I used and from a Visa photo specialist who took my photo and triple checked before taking the pic.

@Andi **********
for the eVisa process? didnt see any requirements for a size as you upload a jpeg file… there is even the photo guide with do/dont.

@Dany *******
Some embassy sites detail pic sizes.
