What should I do if my DTV visa application is being rejected due to document upload issues in Ho Chi Minh City?

I've been having some challenges this week applying for the DTV in Ho Chi Minh City.

Yesterday they asked for "Provide passport FULL BOOK including EMPTY PAGES." So I took a picture of every single page in my passport, and uploaded them one by one (since the site doesn't allow multiple uploads. Today they respond: "Read our request CAREFULLY before submit. Provide passport FULL BOOK from page 1 to 52. If no, your visa application will be REJECT." No information on what was wrong / missing.

Yesterday they asked for "Provide your CV/ Portfolio." Well I'm a software engineer and I mostly work on backend projects which are hard to put into a portfolio. So I uploaded my Resume detailing my 25 years of industry experience as well as a public presentations I've given, screenshots from applications I'm working on, and a patent application (with my name on in) from a previous employer years ago. Today they respond with: "Provide "YOUR" CV/ portfolio. If no, your visa application will be REJECT."

Has anyone experienced something similar? It sounds like I only get one more shot at this before they reject my application.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user encounters difficulties in applying for a DTV visa in Ho Chi Minh City, specifically with document submissions. They received requests for a full passport book and a CV/portfolio but did not understand how to properly compile and submit these documents. Commenters provide feedback explaining that multiple images should be combined into a single PDF document before upload, highlighting the common practice and tools available for such tasks.

I used this program. Here you have everything you need for PDF generating, incl. resize.

And I have to send all my passport pages, too
Raphael ********
Got the same request, combine them in a pdf. Youโ€™ll need to compress it too
Anonymous ******************
I had to do this in KL. Take photos of every single page, combine into one PDF (using online PDF combiner) then compress the PDF to be less than 3MB (using online PDF compressor). Thatโ€™s what they want. Their system wonโ€™t allow you to upload multiple files.

That is to make sure you haven't LEFT vietnam and bailed back to thailand to wait for the visa to be approved ๐Ÿ™‚

AND

a brief google of "combine images to one document" comes up with many free online resources

do we have to put our signature in all the passport pages, or itโ€™s not necessary? Thanks

@Marco **********
nope, just photos of each page

thank you Tod!

Almost 3 months in the group and you failed to notice that the standard upload method is combining multiple documents or pictures into a single PDF, because each upload section only allows a single file upload l. A dozen or more successful applicants praised ilovepdf free website tool to accomplish this.

Good helpful advice โœ…

I am pretty sure everytime you uploaded a new page of your passport, you were overwriting the previously uploaded page. You should cut and paste each photo into a word document and then convert it into a PDF, then upload that 1 PDF.
Immy *****
@John ******
I took mine to a printer specialist, who could cut it easier than my camera phone or printer, if you could find one, that might be easier as they will reject it, if it does not look good
Charles **********
@John ******
you could also just go to online website and do jpg > pdf, just upload all your photos and it will make one pdf file
Linda **********
I also had to do the full passport book. I scanned it on my phone and put it together in one document. It was a pain ๐Ÿ˜‚ Applied in Ho Chi Minh.

They probably think everyone has to be a web graphic developer :-D

I don't know. Since it's such a substantial amount of money I don't understand why they cannot be a bit more nice?

I mean they could provide a checklist with what documents are okay and provide slots to upload the missing documents.

But there refusal statements are quite sweeping I think.

This is in contrast to doing one year extensions for retirement reasons in Thailand where they review it in person and almost always require more documents but it's clear what they need.

their country their rules. I thought the guidelines were specific enough. I got mine with no further requests

In the OP's case, the embassy might have been able to see that the applicant did not know their uploads were being overwritten when they just received the 52nd page of his passport. What's so hard about explaining in one sentence that all pages must be in a single document? Or maybe it wasn't obvious and they really thought OP was just uploading single page documents for the hell of it. Or maybe they don't have the English skills to say that. Anyway, the embassy should have the courstesy to be more clear with the application fee being paid.
David *******
@Shandy *******
when I applied there was the situation that multiple documents could be uploaded - passport (all pages including covers and blank pages); proof of residence, employment contract and others as requested.

One cannot expect the embassy staff to do your work for you. If they receive 52 individual documents that comprise the complete passport itโ€™s not their job to try and compile them into 1 complete document. If the applicant cannot do this maybe it shows a limitation on their abilities and itโ€™s a natural selection process to exclude those applicants.

@Shandy *******
I'm sure if you take screenshots and create a document Aviv or 64 pages and then you make a PDF it's going to be too big and we're going to refuse to take the PDF....

@David ******
Just shut up. People like you are the reason they get away with this scam.
David *******
@Jan *********
itโ€™s not a scam. Follow the rules and guidelines and the process works. If you donโ€™t like it donโ€™t apply.
Wayne *********
Each time you upload you overwrote what you already sent. You need to combine all the pages into one pdf. All pages of passport into one single document.

For the CV just write a CV it's not that hard

if thatโ€™s true it explains a lot. I uploaded loads of files, they saw only the last one and then got mad i wasnโ€™t following their instructions.

Absolutely bonkers application design
Adnan ********
@Ryan *******
if you somehow upload many files then how would they know which one is first and which one last, you dont expect them to sit and sort all the 52 files out for you??? just because its thailand do not think they are the only one does that, i had worst experience with many european countries compare to thailand....have patience and do it proper way and it will help you in your application...use pdfgear
Jonas *************
Adnan Khairi all mobile phones when we take pictures give a file names that are in order....

So you are quacking up the wrong tree.

@Ryan *******
that's Thailand for you. always terrible customer service, horrible websites, but we just got to get through it as best we can. It sucks for sure. People on here tend to forget that while it may be easier for some, its not always simple for other people. I know crazy!
Charles **********
@Ryan *******
you need to upload all images of passport pages into one pdf file

You can then you go to an online compress tool to reduce size of pdf file by like 90%

Not really hard that to do or takes much time time to do - and I thought you said you are a software engineer ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Jonas *************
@Charles *********
yes I am but it can still be quite difficult to do these things. Especially since we do these things on mobile phones these days.

How normal people are supposed to be able to figure out how to do this that's the problem right?
Vitaly ********
@Jonas ************
lucky you, youโ€™ve never applied for a Schengen visa

my point was that bureaucracy sucks everywhere, and Thai visa application process is not that bad if you compare it to European countries you come from
Jonas *************
@Vitaly *******
I'm not sure why you need to make it personal?

@Ryan *******
bonkers or not you have to work with it

@Wayne ********
so theyโ€™re expecting me to send images of 52 passport pages in one file limited to 3MB?!
Yen ***
@Ryan *******
use genius scan app to scan of all pages your passport. Then go to Smallpdf to compress the file online. It will be under 3MB
Andries *********
@Ryan *******
hcmc asked me the same.. I took all the pictures, merged, compressed and uploaded without problems. Now pending approval since 2 days. Fingers crossed I get approved after the weekend.
David ********
@Ryan *******
you are a software engineer, it shouldn't be difficult, maybe they are testing that ๐Ÿ˜…
Wayne *********
@Ryan *******
you just have to compress it
Matthew *******
@Ryan *******
Yes itโ€™s expected and you are not the first person to do it. Remember they work by checkboxes to cover their own asses. So follow their instructions so they can check off the box of requirements.
Jonas *************
@Wayne ********
that would being incredible is stupid design.

Is it really so that you cannot upload several attachments?

Shouldn't there be possibility to list all the uploaded documents and see what they have available?
Alistair **********
@Jonas ************
yeah it was a real pain merging all the docs together and to be readable within the file size limit p.
Wayne *********
@Jonas ************
For each request they give one slot to upload, so they expect one document. I think the passport pages are quite rare for them to have uploaded. They could word it better to ask for a copy of all passport pages in a single PDF.

We have to remember this is Thailand and not everything is simple ๐Ÿ˜‚
Adam *********
Nope
