Does the Thai consulate in Savannakhet still offer 1 year multiple entry visa based on being married to a Thai national and are the requirements still the same like last year? I couldn't find the 1year visa on their website anymore.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, the Thai consulate in Savannakhet still issues the 1-year multiple entry Non-O visa for those married to Thai nationals. However, the requirements have slightly changed: applicants now need to have 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account, seasoned for 2 months prior to the application. If this requirement is not met, a single entry Non-O visa will be issued instead. These details may not be explicitly listed on their website, so it is recommended to confirm with local agencies.

the one year multi entry was NEVER listed on their website

The thai consulate in Savannakhet issues year-long multi-entry Non-O visas based on marriage to a thai ONLY if you have 400K baht in a thai bank account seasoned for 2 months before you go apply for the visa,

Anything else and you get a single entry Non-O for 90 days.

That's how it is, it's not listed anywhere, but after checking with two companies who do nothing but lug people to that consulate for visas that is the policy they are enforcing up there now.

Update your thai bank book the day before you cross the border, there's no way to update it in Lao.

The way it used to be was you got the year-multi-O based on marriage for the asking.

Then they wanted to see 400K baht OR the equivalent in any bank account in your name (thai or foreign) on the day you apply

BUT

Shortly after that they went to 400K in a thai bank account only seasoned for 2 months before you apply.

They've been using those requirements for a good few months now.

As I said in the earlier post I reached out to 2 companies who do nothing but lug foreigners to Savannakhet for visas and they confirmed the 400K has to be in a thai account for 2 months or they just issue you a single entry 90 day visa based on marriage (which BTW; you can still get without proof of funds)

This is as updated of info as I can find people.

so if you get this single entry Non o once the 90 days is up Iโ€™m assuming you can just apply for another single entry (assuming still no 400k in account) and is there a limit to how many of these you can get in a year?

Or you can get the 60 day Extension to visit Thai family

I normally get the one year visa multiple entry Non o in Australia but now they want 400k thb in the account and its online and can take up to 6 weeks. Looking for an alternative until I can have the 400k thb. Maybe I can go to Penang since its closer to where I live on Samui.

Savannakhet issues multiple entry Non-O based on being married to a Thai. Requirements are almost the same, but now you need to have funds of 400K baht in a Thai bank account, otherwise, they would issue a single entry Non-O visa instead.

@Ellie ******
do the 400k have to be seasoned?

This contradicts what Tod was saying in a post on his ATTENTION MEMBERS posting of 23-Oct where he was giving people's experiences following the change. I thought the unseasoned funds was still good -
@T**
please clarify.

okay I deleted that post because it is bad info now, as when I made it the situation was in flux up there and changing almost day to day.

@Kai *****************
no just take your bank book and copies of the account details page, and the page showing greater than 400k

Just curious
@Gareth *********
when did you get your year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai from Savannakhet without the 400K baht being seasoned for 2 months?

Hi Mate, I did my visa in Savannakhet in December last year. My money had been in my account for more than 2 months. The document I followed stated something along the lines, that the 400k had to be in your account on the day of application, or the equivalent of 400k in an overseas account in your name. I'm trying to find that document at the moment, but I'm assuming that things have changed, and I should have kept my mouth shut. Have a good Songkran.

sorry if it was asked and answered before, but can the bank book be updated few days before travelling to Savannakhet? Is there a maximum duration?

Because when doing the same in Thailand at immigration, it needed (last time I did, few years ago) to be from the very same day of going to immigration. Thanks if someone can answer.

update your bank book the day before you cross the border (not a few days)
